Apart from cats activity, I am wondering if the cat will be exposed to children. Different cat breed has different attitude towards children. Also would you have time to groom your cat.

Consideration I tend to follow:
1. Noise level
2. Fur type and therefore grooming necessity
3. Active/inactive cats
4. Attention I need to give to them
5. Lap cat/non lap cat
6. Tolerance to children, which may also mean tolerance to your guess
7. Toilet trained

The cat book by ASPCA is good to be used as a guide as to the above notes for each breed.
