abymummy is sugesting you adopt so that you (as a self confessed cat lover) can save a few lives.

suzy is right about DLH in shelters. i have had DLHs. granted, not that many but you can check my posts in the adoption thread and see.

like you, many people like DLHs so of course we call our friends to let them know about the cats. BECAUSE, WE KNOW PPL ARE SHALLOW AND JUDGE CATS BY THEIR LOOKS RATHER THAN PERSONALITY. DLHs have great chances of being adopted quickly and we do our best to maximise on that. then i can move them on and take in a DSH with poorer chances.

and read the following carefully. this is coming from a person who rescues and rehomes.

ethical breeders are not trying to monopolize the market. they sell at that price because they show their cats, feed their breeding stock well, provided veterinary care and vaccinations for their cats and kittens and want to instill a sense of value. once all the expense are taken into account, there is NO profit. yes, when you sell, you get a lump sum but that does not cover the ongoing expenses. that's why becoming a breeder is considered en extremely expensive hobby.

BYBs can afford to sell for less because they are not always committed to that level of care for their animals. they have little concern for what happens to their 'produce' once it leaves their home. ethical breeders care a lot!

that's why they neuter. some people think it is selfish and they do it becuase they don't want you to profit but it is because they don;t want to think that maybe their cucu will end up on the street, sick and abandoned. once breeders come to know what kind of person you are, then they can re-think selling you the breeding cat. you wouldn't let you duaghter marry just anyone right? this forum is indeed a place for cat lovers. so please listen to those who really care and try to make a difference. if you cannot agree, then at least don't be sarcastic and mock! i rarely voice my opinion in opposition to people because i feel everyone is entitled to their point of view. but when one party mocks another unjustly, then i feel compelled to make a stand.
