Dear Filinlee2,
Currently I have an adult cat of about 4 years old who always come and gigit me. She used to be the only cat for 2 1/2 Years during which time my vet suggested me to have another cat for her companion. Her behaviour is such that she will go after my feet, bite, I scolded, she arch her back with hair on ends and come to attack me even more angry. She would stalk me till she gets another bite or two on my feet and legs.
I did many tricks to avoid her from attacking me, bought her many toys. hang things or her. Have a platform for her to peep outside through the window. Bring her out to socialize. Use ping pong ball to distract her from me.......but with dismay, she still went for my lower limbs.
At last after a long thought and discussion with her vet, I decided that I should have another cat. Brought in a kitten, neutered him at age 3 months. My girl suddenly bites less but still bites on me. Even after having the other cat as her friend, she still attacks me. Less so to the other cat.
During many occasion lately I noticed she would look from afar when I have the boy on my lap and give him a massage. She did not seem jealous, which if she did give me a sign I would back off, she just sits on a higher part and looks. Later I introduce her again to sitting on my lap and weekly I notice that duration on the lap is longer and longer. The latest was 4 minutes and that is a looooong time for that cat. At least she is a bit calmer.
Bringing new cat may help but from my experience not entirely though it did in an indirect way.
Do discuss with your vet and see what he/she says.
Good luck.
