and then yes if you do ultrasound scanning for HCM it's a regular thing.........of almost all the breeders I'm dealing with (and also a lot more I know as friends) they do HCM scanning for their cats starting at the age of 2 years and then every 2 years until some 7, 8 years of age............
The fact that a negative result shown in the age of 2 years (so a very young adult) doesn't always necessarily guarantee life-time peace of mind........whereas other inhereditary diseases like PKD is much easier to spot (now in Australia there's a simple kit available which you only need to rub a little tissues from the cat's mouth and send the sample back for testing - cheap and quick - no blood sampling involved)............
