Call me crazy - but I do that on purpose - if they think this arrangement is nothing but trouble, then cleaning the litterbox, grooming the cats and taking care of them (especially when they are sick) for "LIFE-TIME" must be a mission impossible for them......and those who don't have this patience do not deserve a kitty from me..........

And mind you also, like Lesley says, the guarantee for genetic problems MUST BE LIFE-TIME. Things like PKD (especially in Persians) do not show up too early.........a friend of mine recently took his Persian-like longhair bought from petshop 6 years ago to me and I did the PKD test sampling for him (the Australian PKD test kit).........the result came back from the Aussie lab. a while ago and it was positive.........yet the cat concerned only shows very initial sign of PKD suffering........and he is 6-year old now........

Last but not the least, these days I sell my cats, not only with contract, but also "insurance" to buyers. The health insurance is good for covering 12 veterinary visits@US$100. Also there is an insured sum of US$1000 "operation cost" in case an operation is necessary. All these are covered for 12 months starting from the day the kittens are taken to their new homes (4-month, or 16-week old as my policy).

The insurance itself costs me about US$150, yet I think it's worth every penny of it, and gives my buyers a big peace of mind. And of course, I guarantee most of the genetic diseases associated with Norwegian Forest cats for life.

I wish here got insurance for cat..i dont think we have it here in malaysia..but again..back to how much the breeder charge to the buyer rite? if its high then ok to have all those. so sometime need to balance all this.

this is my opinion and some ppl do have their own.

about health guarantee for genetic defect that can cover lifetime..at first i want to implement that also but then i realised also that some of the genetic defect like PKD, HD , HCM can come up due to poor maintenance of the cat also...
if the cat were not taken care off properly or too much care like over supplement, over vitamin..over fed..then can lead to that kind of disease also..

that is why im willing to give guarantee for until age 1.5 years...to me its fair enough...

anyway...we are open to discuss this among breeders and perhaps we can come up with a SOP so that all of us breeder can use the same..

the contract, the pricing structure, the health guarantee etc can be standard..

that is why breeder association is a must..i have been raising this but no one want to give any input about it.
