basically... a domestic long hair is a cat yg tak de proven certificate of breed... n normally they are the results of we human buat rojak la... if only we are as ethical as the breeders at the other side of the globe....
they are also known as household pet.. but even if u hv a persian tapi tak de paper to certify.. if u masuk cat show.. it will go under the category of domestic longhair or novice..... same with other breeds too... but normally all these pure breeds yg tak de paper kalau dorang masuk category domestic longhair they don stand a chance to menang simply becos.. correct me if m wrong.. one judge from Holland, Lee Selassa told me once that "a domestic long hair cats has to look domestic and with no resemblance to any pure breed..."
so since domestic shorthair has already existed.. so they are called domestic longhair due to the long coat... similar to other pure breeds like scottish fold, munchkin etc... they start off as shorthair but now u can also find them as long hair....
in terms of genetic.. it is very much depends on whether it is a dominan genes or a recessive genes....
on general... longhair genes are normally recessive while shorthair genes are dominan.. so in most cases that I have come across a long hair male and a short hair female will normally produced short haired kittens but there are also cases where the kittens are all long hair... so again.. as much as it is "nature's rule" it still depends on the genetic factor... and the Almighty..
as u know for most msian.. all long hair cats are persians... however.. the beauty about cats are.. to them.. doesnt what breed they belong too.. they nvr look at another cat as according to breed.. to one cat.. another cat is just another cat...
