Neuter him NOW! At 9 mths it's not a lifetime habit, so he should stop spraying reasonably soon.

The point is a) to save your home from stinking, b) to cause him not to wander in search of females and be at risk of coming to harm on streets/whatever and c) to do your bit towards zero population growth of stray cats!
