Hi Mia,
Most covered litter box do hv some sort of ventilation holes on top covered by some sort of filter. but nevertheless, u wud need to open up the cover to scoop up the pee2 n poo frequently so that the ammonia concentration is not high. as for me, i do it twice a day (I hv 3 cats). The other reason i prefer covered ones, is becoz to avoid the sands/crystals litter fr flying out fr the box. save some headache to sweep the floor. Anyway, although using covered ones, there r still some litters fly out but only minumum. The other other reason pulak is that becoz i put the litter box at the washing area where the air ventilation is the best in my condo but also to refrain the sands/crystals kena rain water.
