If someone is unable to care for the cat/kitten for whatever reasons, I rather the person put up the cat/kitten for adoption. Its takes someone responsible to do that rather then let go of the cat/kitten out in the streets and claim lost and place so many advertisements pretending to offer reward and etc.

While it is true that when couples have pets and the other half is not in favour suddenly for whatever reasons - what do you do? Divorce? Divorce the other half just for a cat/kitten? Let's get realistic here. I rather place my cat/kitten in another good home than go thru the hassle of spending thousands of dollars on the divorce, counselling, emotional trauma, etc. Perphaps this is a very subjective situation - it will depend on how strong your relationship is with your other half and your pet/s.

**While having said that, I know of people who actually divorced because of their cats but thats because they own big catteries and their cats/kittens actually give them satisfaction then their own marriage.

What about babies? They are many people who have pet/s while their babies are around but due to small age and not being able to manage the dander due to respitory not being fully developed yet, etc, does one expect to send their baby for adoption? or place the pet/s for adoption? You can never compare an animal and a human being. A lady carries her baby in her womb for 9 mths and go thru birth pains and post natal issues, etc only to give her baby away because the baby is unfortunately allergic or cannot handle cat dander??

I respect and feel for those who have to go thru such painful situations and place their pets for adoption. Its not easy to place a pet/s for adoption either, selecting and seiving and interviewing all the potential adopters is no joke plus going to their houses and viewing all their living lifestyle is a real eye opener and can be really discouraging especially when the potential adopters do not meet your criteria and these people apply only because the cat/kitten is for free!

Right now, the only way is to educate people the consquences of having pet/s before/after marriage, etc. No point critizing and listing out all the reasons why people do this and that. Will it help?
The forum is also another place where these people can place their pet/s for adoption, its like a help avenue/ hotline . Or would you rather have people convieniently dumping or placing pets in SPCA simply because they know that its useless getting help from forums for they will be critisized and misunderstood.

***I also wonder why you guys feel that most people placing adoptions are ingenuine. While you guys are perfect and blessed with flawless lifestyles with no challenges or threats in having to give up your cat/s, it would be appreciated if you guys gave others the benefit of doubt and sympathise the situation these people are in and of cse respect them that they are doing the right thing in rehoming their pets.

agree with u. have the publics been educate ? if not, i dont think that it is ok for any of us to simply critisized them. They have not see the light yet.
