American Curl is a very exceptional example in the sense that it was originiated from strays in day 1. Whereas in other (relatively) new breeds where parents of different breeds are allowed (such as BSH in Scottish Fold, BSH, Exotic and Persian in Selkirk Rex), in American curl one of the parents can literally be a stray (without pedigree so to speak)..........of course how to choose this non-pedigreed parent for breeding American Curl is a matter of expert knowledge taking into consideration the breed standards and many uncertainlties (e.g. non-tracible health problems)...........
