Hi Lesley,
I agree with you. In Uk and Ireland pet shops are not allowed to sell cats and dogs. They have to find one from a breeder. I think its a good idea to do the same thing in Malaysia. Here in Ireland pet shops sells all pets stuff, birds and small animals only. I bought my first persian 15y ago from a petshop in malaysia saying that its a pedigree and he show me a picture from a poster how she will look like. She is a doll face persian cost RM800 but no papers, not vaccinated, wormed, scared as they are not use to home environment and human loving, dont know their background and they only look like 6-7weeks old. I dont know anything about cats at that time as Im only 11 years old. I would strongly advise anyone that looking for a kitten to get one from a breeder even though its only a pet that you are looking for. At least you know their background, you can visit the parents and breeder's house to have a look at how she take care of the kittens. Kittens are well socialised used to kids and home surroundings, healthy, loving, vaccinated, wormed and breeder should be able to provide any advice that the new owner might need. Furthermore we can aspect what the kitten personality/character will be like as each pedigree breed is different. Persian-loving and laid back, siamise-vocal.
