Typically, these kittens are not registered (because then the governing body in question would know about this "traffic") and come at best with a breeder's ped or or one with names blanked out. My personal observation of 7 - 8 mth kits (and sometimes adults) in pet shops indicates that they've been living in very confined areas for a LONG time. Some are better socialised than others, but many show signs of disease. Do the breeders in Aus care what happens once they've got their $$$ from the agent??? I don't think so! And the crazy thing is the prices asked - mega bucks.... usually more simply because they're imported.

Merely because most "end buyers" are not alert of the necessary documents/cert. that should be accompanyied with the purchase of specified kittens/puppys. Also to reconize the geniune of the cert. is already another issue here for the buyers. At most times the pet shops will reason the matter by saying the cert. will be supplied later........and the later never comes either....
To solve the problem will certainly not be a "one man show". Feedbacks from end buyers will be very good but then again we always have to start from awareness first for the public eyes to see what's important and then redirect them back to a correct channel/centre for the report of such cases.(ie : email address) and last but not least- time to time basis checks at pet shops by the authority concern. Perhaps for a start even the Aussie embassy could play a role to this problem........maybe?
