When Mikey reached our home, he was so happy – walking, jumping, searching around, playing with anything that grab his attention and keep on following us everywhere we go inside the house. We even allowed him to sleep with us on our bed (without realizing that his fungal infection was so severe that it was transmitted to us as well).
And then the treatment for his fungus began. We brought him to several vets and each of them had different ways to cure the fungus. We’ve tried all of them and it had cost us a lot. One thing to learn is that - it is not easy to get rid off the fungus or ringworm. It will take some time (up to few months) to cure and you need extra effort (and extra money) to combat the disease or it will relapse again and again.
To me ringworm or fungus is a determined and aggressive enemy. To defeat it you must be equally determined and aggressive and you need to have a battle plan. And don’t forget that it will easily transmit to human also. Both my husband and I also shared the same disease with Mikey. So, all of us have to be treated from fungus. During the treatment his coat shed a lot and he seemed to look just like a DSH.
After a few months his coat started to grow in nicely. You can see here his picture before and after the treatment.
