flora, with the super premium brands, they are supposed to eat less. more nutrients per gram mah...if not people would not be able to afoord feeding the expensive stuff. 
btw, my own cats eat raw food and i will never switch back to kibble. raw is cheaper (if you DIY) and infinitely better. my cats toilets are not smelly to scoop, they barely shed, they gain weight but they're not fat, they don't get gingivitis and hairballs and they get VARIETY.
