Let me just add on some more thoughts on this thread. I've said this before and I'll say it again,
"To Champion is easy (especially if you're not competing with anyone else!) but to Grand is very, very hard!"

Let me give you an example: My Stevie is the absolute best Abysinnian in Malaysia (3rd Best of Breed in CFA ID Asia for year ending 2006) and that's a given, everyone knows it. BUT, he has yet to grand...why? The reason is simple, he's a very good example of his breed, but he is NOT OUTSTANDING! He's still a few points shy of Granding, the title GC will come, sooner or later...

To me, for my cats to be a champion is Not Enough. If I want kittens of my breeding to go good, loving homes, I'd like for the new owner to know that they have the best that I can give them.

One of the main reasons why my kittens haven't gone to new homes yet is just that - even Granding is NOT ENOUGH. For the first time in History, Malaysian breeders are chasing the elusive title of DW (Division Winner) - we have the great cats of our own breeding, and thankfully we have the funds to go out and chase that title...

But then, hey, if there are breeders out there whom are perfectly satisfied with their cats only having CH titles, so be it.

I've learnt a lot of lessons this last Micatz about being a breeder - one of the most important is that, you, the breeder, is the first judge of your cats/kittens. I knew that my little girl is the better cat but I also knew that the little boy would be the one winning - why? That I could not explain...so I showed them both - and the judges explained why - it's all about the earset...hmmm...

I now realise that a two day show is exhausting, exhilirating and fun...when, at the very end of the two days in the last two rings 3 of my cats were called for finals I knew that all that I had worked for was in the end WORTH IT!!!

Showing is not about winning and losing, it's not about being able to sell your cats just because their lineage is full of Champions and Grands - it's about being in love with your cats, it's breed and being around people who feel the same way you do...
