You've got it in one (or two)! It's a celebration of cats, period. Gee - as far as champs and grands in my lines (well - I think I've mentioned before) it doesn't matter a damn to me! (Much as it's nice to have a bunch of kittens of the year!) A title doesn't change anything about a cat! There are lots of unworthy titled cats out there and conversely, a bunch of super cats who just don't go to shows for one reason or another.
Coony mentioned some getting a Ch title on day 1 and not fronting on day 2 - if the 'success' of having titled on Day 1 was the reason people didn't return, (rather than having other committments) then that's a pretty short term view of things!
