definitely are some breeders who do this for profit. (note: pls excuse me for typing this in english or it'll take two hours for me to finish this post).
anyway.. look at the number of litters a breeder has a year. how many times does he or she breed a certain cat. how many breeds does he or she have? all this are important when trying to find a responsible breeder. a good breeder will mate her female 1-2(max) times a year and have a decent break in between pregnancies. a new breeder usually starts out with one breed.. an experienced one shouldnt have more than 3 breeds..
if a breeder is genuinely looking after the cats, it will be really difficult to make a profit after what she/he has spent. the prices of pedigrees are not supposed to differ a lot. For example in Singapore the prices for a pet range from $800sgd-$1300 sgd. That is still within the acceptable range. Prices will differ from country to country and depends on the rareity of the breed also in some cases. although i have not had any kittens yet i only have two standard pricing ranges. neuter and entire. entire of course would be more expensive and sold only to registered breeders. neuters would be priced within the pet price i mentioned above and the owner is free to choose if he/she wishes to show the kitten or not.
