Default Can you teach a cat to use the bathroom?

Can you teach a cat to use the bathroom? My toilet is the toilet bowl, squatting one.

If I could train my cat to use that, I wouldn't need cat litter, and litter pan

teach a cat to do their thing in the toilet???....it can be done with loads of determination and patience.......

my 8 yr old female does her thingy in the toilet..... just kurungkan dia dalam toilet evrytime after makan.....dulu atas lantai, then slowly she did her business in the toilet bowl (i scooped her poo poo and transfer it into the bowl).....then after few weeks, she managed to do it magnificently......its just like teaching a cat to the litterbox, but the toilet just needs extra effort....

good luck......

For me, I never buy cat litter/pan. All my cats do their business in the toilet. We actually trained the mother and the rest, just follow. But, as Rozita said, it took a lot of effort..and of course, we have to be very very patient. If you start to introduce the kitties to the toilet business since they're very young, then it would be easier. They will normally do it on the floor first. You have to scoop the "poo" & place it nearer & nearer to the toilet bowl (if the kitty do it quite far from the bowl) or just put it inside the bowl & leave it for a while. Then, take the kitty to smell it. Wash clean the floor before u do that. Well, that's how i trained the mother.

And, when my parents bring along my kitties (they're staying with my parents now) when they visit me, all my kitties still know how to use the toilet...though at first it was hard to get them to "pee" & "poo" because they're not used to the environment. My mom has to massage their stomach so they can let go. However, when they've felt comfortable, they just go into the toilet & do their business.

i pon tengah serabut ni...after Knight was castrated, he began doing his business out of the litterbox. although the litterbox is in the bathroom, he chooses the shower floor to do it, and this is so tiring, as we always keep our bathroom dry at all times (i mean, when we're not using it la). so when he does that, i have to clean the floor every single time. tension!! baunya... masyallah....mintak nyawa....

the doc already reminded me earlier to switch the crystal to newspaper strips because the crystal balls touching his private part could cause irritation. i should heed his advice la. i just thought that crystals wouldn't hurt him at all, so i wanted to spare myself the trouble.

it's been a week now, i've been patient enough la. i'm shouting at him all the time now, and i hate myself when i do that.

if i scoop the waste n leave it in the toilet bowl unflushed, would he be interested in switching location to the bowl? i could die of the stinky soaked faeces though....

Lucyfehr, I know what u'r going thru right now. Same as mine who used to poo under my bed all of a sudden...biasa kat toilet, terbabas lak.

Anyway, just try to scoop his poo & put it in the toilet bowl. Clean the floor thoroughly (kat kpg my mom use minyak tanah to get rid of the smell on the floor but normally i used clorox), rinse a lot & wipe clean. Then, lps dia mkn bawak pegi toilet. Sikit jer letak "poo" dia pun takper as long as there is smell. Cuma kena byk sabar sikitlah. Some cats can be very easy to teach but some are a bit harder. Well, that's how i trained all my cats and so far takder problem exc for one yg terbabas under my bed but it was just abt a week. Tak tau kenapa.

btw, i think i have taught the kitten where to do its toilet routine

it urinated on the floor, i used tissue to wipe it, and throw the tissue in the litter tray, and after some time, it shitted in the litter tray

btw, the litter tray is made up of newspapers now, not shredded like some of friends', just put newspapers on top of the tray,
