Default Irresponsible Cat Owners!

I have a gripe about certain cat owners who do not neuter their cats. One really comment infuriated me when a lady told me that she loved all 5 of her cats. I asked if they were neutered. She said no need for it as they were all males and she allows them to run out of the house. She even had the cheek to quip that she didn't want to keep females because of the pregnancy problem. As long as they have their fun outside. If they have their fun outside, that means they are mating with the neighbourhood strays and 5 males means at least 10 stray kittens born out there per mating season!!!

A startling fact is, a sexually matured stray cat is able to breed up to 3 times a year! That means at least a dozen kittens a year from one mother.

I find it strange that there are so-called cat lovers out there who allow their animals to impregnate other cats or allow them to be impregnated. What happens? They get dumped at animal shelters or the kittens' health is compromised by the large population of cats in one home.

Neutered cats enjoy a longer life, no sexual frustration, no sexually transmitted diseases (yes our pets do get it as well!!!), no pregnancy / unwanted kittens and no messes for the owners after that.

Leave the breeding to the pros who will most probably neuter them before selling them off.

IF YOU LOVE CATS AND ALL CATS, PLEASE SPARE A THOUGHT FOR THOSE UNWANTED AND UNSEEN KITTENS IN THE STREETS AND PRACTISE NO-SEX FOR YOUR PETS!!!!!

Forum members, please neuter your pets (unless you're a breeder) before it's too late!

Unhappy

yes i totally agree with u 100%! Unless the owners of tom or she cats share full responsibility of 'unplanned' pregnencies, there will be an ongoing drama with cat shelters dealing with massive work and heart pain of putting some cats to sleep. Cat shelters are set up originally for society to b educated upon respect for animals but all the shelters have time to do is home unwanted cats.
The selfishness of not wanting to take responsibility of pregnancies will only eventually diminish the respect of the cat within society at large.

Now, now, now.... dun let ur emotion run high on this matter. Just think about it, if u think neutering ur pet is inhumane but what about letting young-born kittens, starving n thirsty all the time, cover with dirt all the time, got run over by vehicles, got kicked by people, got bitten by other cats or dogs, contracted diseases etc is humane?? There were actually not some people but many people r like this n they just being ignorant.

Therefore, if we claim ourselves as animal lover, cat lover etc, what we could do is to advise people on this. Try to make them understand how seriousness about neutering their pets n the responsibilities if they want to let their pet to breed. This is the most that we could do. But if they still continue to do it, remember that we are in no position to punish them. When we do things, do not place high expectations (or any expectations at all) whether u wud suceed in advising them or not. Juz do to the best ability u can...

"A man of kindness to his beast is kind... A brutal action shows a brutal mind... Remember, He gave thee speech and formed him mute... He can’t complain, but God’s all-seeing eye... Behold the cruelty and hears his cry... He was designed thy servant not thy drudge... Remember thy Creator is thy judge..."

Exactly!!

Then again, these days I just tell all straight out and normally dispense my comments till they display a jaw dropping manner particularly to those who seem too unmoved by the realities of caring for a cat or any other animal in our society today. I then normally get some "I'm not like that" kind of response and I usually end it with a "I hope so for your sake". After that I can only hope their animals are cared for better and the owners more responsible. Doubt they'd talk to me ever again.

But of course, wooz is not all that mean. I would try to see as much "feel" an animal owner has through the way they talk about and what they do for their pets before unleashing my whip.

Anyway, yes I support the calls for neutering and spaying completely. It is never a guilt ridden trip for the owners to neuter or spay their cats because eventually the objective of it all is to make this world a better place for our furry friends.

wooz....
