hi sorry if this question has been raised before,i am unable to find it(please direct me to the thread)
What is the best cat litter should i use/u ever used?i have 8 cats at home, now im using the scented sand.i use normal little pans(not hooded ones)but the fragrance wont last long, and i hate to see the clumps stucked on my babies paws.the sand can be very messy sometimes.i clean the pans twice daily.i read a thread about pine(?) type, but what about crystal?i saw 2 types of crystals at petshop, one is rounded crystals and one isnt. Considering the cost and effectiveness(and easyness hehe)..which one should i try? ![]() |

Would share with you my cat litter experience.
For me there's 3 things to consider: odor control, ease of cleaning up and tracking. First it was clumping sand - after throwing the waste into the tong sampah still smells.. maybe it wasn't a very good brand. There's also the problem of tracking. Anyway i change to Feline Pine - this one is better in odor control and can just flush the solids as water would breakdown the pellets. However, there's a lot of tracking - my cat digs/scratches really hard when she needs to go and since I let her run loose in my house, she will bring the dust all over the house and onto my sofa... it was quite hard to clean (for me anyway). Then I tried crystals - first tried the round ones coz read caution from forummers that it's easier on the cat's paws. Odor control with crystals are great, and solid easily cleaned. However, the round ones would roll really well and curious cat (such as mine) tend to play with them.. and would purposely sent some flying just so she can chase around... I find it very hard to sweep with the round beads rolling around.. So changed to the 'rocky' ones... it's working ok so far - easier to sweep. Else is the same. I recommended the more expensive (RM19.90 per pack) one with one cat on the package - the crystals only white and blue while for Little Star (two persians on package) it's around RM13.00/pack - crystals are white, blue and pink. The absorption rate of urine is not as fast as the single cat - my cat's fur smell of a bit of urine when using little star.

i have many cats at home
so, i need a very good litter... in terms of performance (odor control, absorption) and a logical priceafter reading recommendations for pine litter, i tried results good. price - acceptable, but feline pine is more expensive. tracking - not a problem since the cats stay in their own rooms. i just sweep the dust. odour - none, but letting the window open 24 hrs and the fan on, helps a lot toothen, the pine litter supply in jb exhausted i search for new litter type. tried queen litter - i hate the smell. also very heavy as i need to lug my catstuff upstairs. then i tried catsan plus - ok. my cats love to play with clean litter, dig a lot for fun. luckily the litter pan is covered type. however, i still mix a little feline pine. no smell. price ok la 10 liter = rm24. tracking - none but my cats loves to dig so the litter fly a lot ![]()

I have been using Litter Star crystal and personally I like it.
It's clean, better looking and works alright. There are 2 types: 1) crystal plus absorbent packs (1 month supply per cat) RM15 - RM18 2) crystal only (1 month supply per cat) RM12 - RM14 I don't see any difference between these two so I usually go for the one without absorbent packs, few ringgit cheaper. I am not sure whether it's pricy compared to sand and other litter. I have only one cat at the moment so I can still afford it. So far the cheapest I managed to get is from Damansara Uptown Pet Zone. i've been trying to look for feline pine for quite sometime now as i have been reading so much good 'stories' bout it so i want to give it a shot but i can't find it!!
i used to see it everywhere when i dont want it now it has just vanished. can u guys tell me where you get ur supply? and is the brand it self named Feline Pine? physical description of the package would b good too thxi personally love arm & hammer litter but it is v.expensive so i switch to something more economical. makes me n the cats happy. (although i think my cats just do their business in the litter box no matter what kind of litter i put in! which is good. no picky business) but now im trying all kinds of litters i can find. to just see which is the best in the market n still at an affordable price.

well, perhaps u should refer back to the Feline Pine thread for the addresses of petshops that suppy Feline Pine and Pinnacle Pine. i have used both products, both are equally good both packs are green and 3.2 kg. FP is dark green with the face of a cartoon kitty in front while PP is light green with a pic of real kitty in front. i used to buy FP at jusco fro rm19.90 and PP at giant for rm11.99 how the pack look like http://www.felinepine.com/felinepine.html currently in jb the stocks already exhausted, so i switch to catsan plus (rm24 per 10 liter pack) plus several handfuls of feline pine in my stock... hope this little info helps

Yes lah I also prefer the crystal type coz it clean and doesn't smell so bad. Tapi betul ke the crytal type tu boleh recycle (cuci bersih & jemur sampai kering kemudian boleh gula balik) someone told me. I belum lah cuba lagi.Last edited by shahrul : 18-10-2005 at 04:43 PM. |

I once used crystal balls (tiny balls) as their litter. What makes me mad was, they love to play with it. Evertime I reached home, I saw them busy chasing the crystal. Then I changed back to litter sand. |
