one inch it is!!

Hi PB,
indeed recommended is 1" (as in inch) but if u had put more, u will end up the sand / crystals all fly out when ur cats bury their treasures. but anyway, u juz only sccop up the faeces / clumps only n so if u had put too much sand, juz let it me n gaul2 them so that they r equally mix...

Hi Mia,
Most covered litter box do hv some sort of ventilation holes on top covered by some sort of filter. but nevertheless, u wud need to open up the cover to scoop up the pee2 n poo frequently so that the ammonia concentration is not high. as for me, i do it twice a day (I hv 3 cats). The other reason i prefer covered ones, is becoz to avoid the sands/crystals litter fr flying out fr the box. save some headache to sweep the floor. Anyway, although using covered ones, there r still some litters fly out but only minumum. The other other reason pulak is that becoz i put the litter box at the washing area where the air ventilation is the best in my condo but also to refrain the sands/crystals kena rain water.

i used covered litterbox but not the hooded type. ok lah coz i use PP or FP. still some pine pellets flying around coz all my cats are long jumpers when it comes to getting out of the box after their business... but with pellets, save me some headache as the thing tak melekit mcm sand kalau terkena air

yeah, i heard the hooded one will accumulate ammonia gas inside if not ventilated frequently and the cat won't want to use it...

still, everything have pro and cons, its up to the owner and the cats

i hv one hooded litter box. if that d reason mentioned by catalina, guess it's why my cats don't want 2 use this litter box. i observed that they prefer d normal type litter box.

Hi Ciko,
it might not becoz of the hooded litter box itself but the air inside. How often u cleaned their faeces by opening up the hood?? as i mentioned, u need to ventilate often. yelah.. kalau tandas kita busuk, sapalah yg nak masuk dgn lega dan selesa buat 'bisnes' kan...
