izyan the procedure of getting the cert from cfa is this:

register litter- $13 usd
register individual kitten- $20 usd.

total= nowhere near anything quoted.
did the cat's parents have cfa certs? ask her to get photocopies of the certs if possible

Just to add:

Courier charges (instead of snail mail, safer) : RM80

This is why I don't do transfers and let the new owner do it themselves, then no-one can say I cheated!

For me .it is only the term.......you must understand 1 thing,purebreed is still purebreed if it fullfiling all the criteria needed,whether it has cert or not is a different issue.

I notice,only in this forum ppl misused the term.They said purebreed if has no cert,it turns to be a domestic cat.

In theory,non-cert purebreed cat is call-Non-pedigree cat and cert cat is call pedigree cat,for me this is more accurate.

Standard Munchkin is still Munchkin if has shortened legs even if no cert to prove it,the shortened legs already prove it.

But this is only my opinion............


Regarding the cert,how much is the cost ?.Actually < RM 200 plus minus.But it is up to the breeder to decide how much and for you as a buyer to think about the given price.

Some breeder do charge RM 500,RM 700 and etc just for the cert.

Paper makes no difference if the home is merely a pet home. If the home is a show home, then yes, it makes a huge difference!

There is no abuse of the terms domestic and pedigree in this forum. But that's IMO.

As for whether the original breeder is trying to cheat or not, cannot and will not say. But the figures that Nadia quoted it correct. Registration of a cat with CFA born of CFA parents US$20. And in fact, it can all be done over the internet now so, actually no courier charge, I correct myself!

yup true...but the owner is trying to sell the cat for RM3k. Thats why people are asking about the cert.hmmm dont you think is to much?? I have no contact with my auntie for almost 10years and suddenly she called me asking bout this....hmmm

in fact this cost can be reduced to zero. i scan and email all my litter registrations. so i spend $8 (early bird) + $20 per kitten and nothing more.
