Question Water Player

not sure if this matter have been addressed before... but one of my kittens likes to play with the water that she's suppose to be drinking!~ i fill it up full and after 15 minutes 2/3 of it is gone. i saw her batting her paws in the water, happily. huhu... very adorable but i worry that the others wont drink enough water as they should be drinking! and she as well!!
they're staying in a cage, there's 3 of them. the bowl is quite big. should i put another bowl in there? so one she can play with and another for drinking? hehe...

Well, we share similar problem even actually mine is worst because my cat (Rory the MC) loves to jump into a bucket of water or roll himself in the sink that is full with water. (He jumped into my condo swimming pool once)

Talking about his water bowl, Rory used to spill the water because he would love to put both of his hands in the bowl and see the reflection of his hands. After he wet his hands, he would lick the water from his palm.

When the water in the bowl is empty because Rory loves to play with it, Trey his brother can’t drink and that worried me.

SO, I changed the technique. In stead of putting a normal bowl, I bought a heavy glass water bowl. When I said heavy, it means "HEAVY".

Even how much Rory kicks the bowl, it still stands. I win!

some cats like to bat at the water... it's fun play for them, i think. as for drinking enough water, i try to keep the water fresh (change min. twice a day) & sometimes, i encourage my cats to drink by holding the container out 2 them.

oh, ya, shd ur cat hv constipation or hard poo or feel hot in humid weather/ temps, u can ease their discomfort w/ a bit of glucose drink (glucogen mix).

how about using a water bottle attached to the cage? quite costly (1 liter = rm27++), but will save u headache

my cats pun suka main air and tgk air masuk lubang bilik air, tp tak plak main air kat water bowl

Default Mine too but...

Hi,

gee..my kitten also likes to play with water although i don't keep him in the cage anymore. What makes him different from yours was that my kitten plays with my tortoise water! And when he gets tired, he'll be drinking the green tortoise water

I have since moved my tortoise outside and far away from him

heehee... i can c dat scenario...

well, once when my Tuo Tuo went outside for a walk... he bat at the water in the small drain and then bend down to drink!! yikes... no more going near dat place anymore...

hence d saying "Curiousity kills the cat"

but u can counter dat with "Satisfaction brought it back"

afterall cats supposed to have 9 lives
