Also, the other reason they sleep in the toilet cos it's cool in there. Oh, by the way, change the water for your cat regularly, and make sure it's there all the time, at the place where you always feed them. You know how fussy cats are! We dont call them the king and queen of the house for nothing! hahahaha!!

yeah... my cats r very particular abt the cleanliness and freshness of the water. I had to change their water everyday otherwise they won't drink at all.

Ever since i found out that my Monty would actually panjat the table and drink from my glass, i have started leaving a few mugs of water here and there. Can you imagine how much of his sisa i have drunk before i caught him in the act?? Eiyewwww...! Also i think when they're upstairs they're too lazy to go down and drink from their bowl, so, my two also like to polish the bathroom floor, then when it's slightly dry, tidur pun kat bathroom.

Hi Al,
well, i think u need to put more than 1 bowl of water should u live in a double storey house but just remember to change the water regularly. Perhaps u would put away ur mug after u drink b4 ur cat start to 'explore' ur mug...

Default toilet water more flavorful or cooler?

have the same problem of cats prefering the toilet floor to their drinking bowl.

i have 5 water bowls around the flat. i change the water twice a day. and still these guys prefer drinking from the toilet floor.

now i only let them sleep in the bathroom once the floor is dry.

it's one of the mysterious ways of cats

True, and that is why I put a plastic container full with water in my bathroom since both of my cat like to drink water from the toilet bowl.

About Malaysia's temperature being hot and that makes them love to drink in the bathroom - I have to say I kinda disagree with it.

I turn on air-cond, ceiling fan and a stand fan even when I'm out to work. Those cooling are for my cats but still, they will drink water in the toilet - floor, sink and toilet bowl. That is where I got an idea to put a plastic container contains with water, and I am happy to see them drinking from there.

The water in my bathroom (all places) use to be very cold as I turn on AC all the times, but they love it. They didnt bother to drink from their water bowl in the kitchen. As for why? I cant think of any logical answer yet.

Hi COuntess,
It is unhygienic for ur cat to lick water from the bathroom toilet. perhaps u can keep the slippers in the bathroom n lock it up. Place the water bowl just right outside the bathroom. sooner or later, if Simba is thirsty, he would drink fr the bowl. just remember not to remove the bowl just yet so that SImba will adapt with the new location...

seen my friend's cat drinking from the mug also... might be coz the water is cooler...

i personally prefer the clay water bowl, ones that are glazed inside out... touch the water and it feel so coool... cats also like to drink from there. it didn't cost much also - rm10 can get big one already. only the looks is not really good la

Drinking from a mug of cold water has also happened with some of my cats. One fella will put his paw into the water to test first before he drinks. Sigh.....

wooz....
