First of all, spay is usually a term referring to females, while castration is the term for removal of testes in males; while neutering is for both although usually used in males generally; and sterilization is a general term for both sexes.
The question of whether to neuter or not, the animal CAN DEFINITELY NOT decide on its own, and it is up to the owner. In fact the pet does not even actually know what the word castration or spay means. But generally a number of owners tend to place themselves in the shoes of their pets, and even some try to perceive the pain they SHOULD undergo, and how it would feel to be neutered. When you have owners thinking like this, I wonder if they understand if the cat wants to be a celibate, barred from their sexual desires drivened by the hormonal cycles. If animals are not able to perform their regular norms relating to their reproductive cycles, as they get older, they MAY be prone to unwanted problems in relation to their reproductive organs: and then you may need to SPAY or CASTRATE, by then the anesthetic risk would be MUCH MUCH HIGHER! But the choice is still yours: THE OWNER And remember unwanted litters are what we should not bring into this world, so as to reduce our stray population. |
