Default are cats really happy being kept indoors

kinda have a guity feeling of having persian who cant go out from home and not having a run outddoors. most cat owner and breeder tend to think that not letting their cat go would be the best thing for cat but is it really. if one do believe in animal have feelings is caging them or keeping them indoors aren't a mental torture .yes the world is a dangerous place but the feeling of wanting to be free sure is there. to think taht every time your cat look at the window with a tears in their eyes. . so is it the best think to do for your cat is to let them go or not having them at all. for ppl who think there doing the right thing of keeping htem inside is just something we tell ourself. brreding them in this world just to be cage for life(metaphoricly speking). sometimes for strays thier life are more happy than the one kept indoors.

domestic cats cant actually survive in the jungle so there is really no safe heaven for this creature. their life arent to played for our intrest or fun . ppl love to have htem because there cute but truly can ppl afford to make pact to not having crime againts cat.i really dont know wat to do. unless if the cat who choose you be an owner.

so the topic here wat do we should really be doing in order to make the world a better place for the cats

Look at things this way: many cats who r outdoors aren't exactly in seventh heaven because they get run over by cars, killed and eaten by dogs, contact fleas, get abused, scalded with boiling water and chased by humans, are hungry and starving, fighting for territory and food, having babies after babies every three months, etc, etc. Ponder over this, my friend .........

i really doubt the cats kept indoor are happy........... Cats love the outdoor but the world no longer save for them.

I'd be happy if I were my cats, being kept indoors. I would feel safe roaming the sky garden ( at the balcony) and wouldn't have to worry about looking for food to eat. Maybe the part I would hate was the visit to the vet.

4 me d ideal is in & out.. 4 d time being my cats come in & out as he like at our semi-d house & i'm sure they appreciate it. My neighborhood is also safe for them + our neighbour likes them coz they r clean. They r neutered so they dont go far..

or

d nxt best thing 4 me is to build a cat house outdoor w preferably trees etc. inside. Make it as playground for them.

Actually cats that have been reared at home and never seen the outside world are happy and contented cos they already believe that their home is their only world. I guess we are referring to those cats that have tasted the outside world and then been brought home to be kept.

Just from my experience, many months back my AC climbed out of my gate like a spider cat and squeezed thru the netting on top. He just sat at the doorstep waiting for someone to open the gate to let him in again. He didn't dare roam an inch. Imagine what a nasty shock I had but I realised he was too fearful to move or investigate its very unfamiliar surroundings.

My very 1st DSH was a kitten caught in the wild, she was 4 or 5 months then. From the time we kept her, she was always trying to escape. Many times we found her sitting outside our window ledge on the aircon compressor. She was never caged but she would meow the whole house down and scratch at the doors wanting to go out. We thought that she may be in heat but after her spaying and recovery she went back to her old ways again. Soon after, she started grooming herself obsessively till she became bald. We brought her to the vet many times and all couldn't find anything wrong with her. Their conclusion was that she was distressed. She became from bad to worse and she became less active and tried to avoid us when we approached her. Then one day, my maid left the windows open after cleaning, my DSH just ran out of the window and from the ledge was preparing to leap down our 4 storey flat. And she did. Luckily she survived from the fall and vet said her hind legs and hips were badly bruised. I then realised that she may be longing for the freedom that she grew up in ,in the 1st place. When I realeased her under my block, she never looked back at us instead she shot off into the wild. We place a collar and address tag on her so that if anything happen, ppl can contact us. I never seen a cat so happy and active. Everything about her seem so lively suddenly. Her fur grew back again and she is still around. The cat feeders knows that she's ours and are always on the look out for her.

I learnt a lesson; to never touch a cat in the wild unless they are injured or in need or they are baby kittens. We should leave nature alone and not unnecessarily disturb them. My next 2 DSH were from fosteres who fostered the kittens since they were a few days old and really what a difference it is.

For me, i dont have problem to let go my kids play outside. As 2 of my kids are previously a stray cat, they really dont like to be kept inside my house. Luckily they know how to appreciate the freedom i gave to them as they only play around my house and never go out from gate. Just at nite i kept them inside the house to avoid unwanted things

I believe its how we bring them up from young. My house is super cat proof. There is no way or chance for even an insect to go thru. So my cats too do not have a chance to go out at all. They would just see and look out of the windows and gates. They are very contented believing their safe world is within my home. And one reason I can attribute to is the reaction of my AC when he managed to squeeze thru a loop hole as mentioned previously.

Kittens are definately playful and extremely curious. If you do not contain them within your home of cse they will manage to venture out and know that there is a world beyond their home. But if you contain them by cat proofing your home with netting and etc, they will grow up contented within the "four walls".

They were a couple of times where I carried my cats out for a walk along the corridor, they become alittle frantic and ran back inside my home. I have also left my door open when I am cleaning outside, All my cats will sit at the edge of the entrance and watch what I am doing without ever tempting to run outside or peek outside

Default Interesting

I generally agree. What i do is for stray cats, I just let them sleep outside and roam outside. They come back into the house to be fed. The ones who have never ventured out, I let them sleep inside. Basically I let them choose. But I won't let the young ones wander too far away.
