Ribbons, bows and collars akan buatkan kucing nampak cute, tapi adakah ia nya selamat? Bells on cat collars are a useless affectation and may even cause psychological and behavioural problems at least in some cats, and yet it is quite difficult to buy a cat collar without one already attached.

I guess I'll need to go get another collar. Yes, safety collar ain't cheap. Is about rm10 each. But I always ensure all collar are clips on and not the convention buckle collar.

cat collar hunt starts tonight!
Samky go buy safety collar from one shop in PJ, much cheaper and quite nice, too. RM6-7. But I don't encourage collars, even safety ones!

What do you guys think?

j_aira,

I am getting one of those for my nisha as well.... Even though she is an indoor cat, but in case she manage to escape and got lost......

I have seen those tags in Taipan, a petshop next to 7-11 shop. It comes in all sizes, big, small, medium, heart sharp, etc.... But it isn't cheap, it cost RM35 for 1 !! So at the end, i got her anti-flee collar (red in colour) with a bell.... I am still looking for one of this name tag with number on it, but i think RM35 is way too expensive....

Wow yeah it's pretty expensive... spoilt little babies! But I heard the engraving thing is pretty cheap, around 10 ringgit? Even 5 ringgit if you're lucky, but I don't know whether it'll rust or not.

Any ideas? I don't tied the collar tight around the neck as I do not want them to have a flat ring of fur around their neck. So, it is hung loosely most of the time.

Thanks!

i don't get the idea of collars..................

My cat don't wear collar cos I'm afraid his neck may become furless after long use & maybe dangerous too, if got caught on some fencing, trees or bushes. What's more, I don't want my cat to look botak on his neck. Not handsome meow meow anymore.

Default Collars are purdy!

to make sure your cats dont bite or choke on the collar, train them with one since kitten days.

to me, collars are for me & my family to locate where cooqee is. she can find the nookiest places in the house! and she is a silent predator. actually, even with the collar bell, we cant find her.

whenever we wanna leave the house, we just run a thorough check. we call her name, keep quiet and if we get to listen just a faint trace of her bell, we'll be assured that yes, she's in the house (somewhere) and then only can we leave in an easy heart.

collars are pretty too. it's my way of spoiling her whenever i have extra pocket money or her bday, me & my friend will get diamonte collars!

especially during festive seaons like raya/christmas/cny, new clothes for us, new collars for cooqee!

safety collars are quite irritating la. sikit2 tarik dah bukak. eeesh. refelctive collars are abundant at vet clinics, but they cost.. quite a lot.

if you dowana choke your cat, get a harness. may be expensive but it's protective and makes your cat more easy to handle (and carry), especially in places where your cat may get easily startled. (loud places, new environments)

make sure that the collar is not too loose or tight. adjust it to be able to fit at least 2 - 3 fingers between the collar and it's neck. and make sure it cant come out.

cooqee likes collars. whenever i tell her that i got a new one for her, she'll sit quietly and waits till i put it on her. and pooof! off she goes running around in her new collar.

once in a while, id give her no-collar days 'cause i love seeing how her bushy her neck'll become!! having a collar has no effect whatsoever in making cooqee bald or flat around her neck. maybe sebab mmg bulu teballll and gemowk!

and she looks good with em! makes her white neck seem more.. colourful.

eeeeh. tak sedar lak byk gak ye ak mengomel. -_____-''''
