if the cats you yell at is a kid, the kid will yell back at you. you will become more stressed... esp if the words yelled back at you is hurtful

if you yell at the cat, obviously the cat won't reply back. if he do, you might end up at the mental hospital or lying inside your grave already...

at least you can be angry at someone without that someone hurting you back

But, when I was angry and angkat tangant to slap Rory, he will angkat tangan and scratch me. If you can see my hands now, then only you know how difficult to raise a son name "Rory". I cannot remember the last time i slap or scolded the abang "Trey", but I just yelled to Rory this morning because he bites my socks and sepak the socks into the wet bathroom.

The moment he saw me staring at him, he "senget" his body (macam kucing ajak gaduh) and raises his tails before ran away to save his life.

Normal ka kucing macam tu? My sister said Rory is a smart cat, he knows exactly how to piss me off!

PS- I would love to "demo" Rory's ability in front of you guys one day. Let him be familiar in your house for like 2 hours (he will sniff all over your house) and after that, pray to god! My best friend and his wife have to tell me that I cannot go to their place with Rory - Rory chases their Golden Retreiver and scratched the dog's nose, tht happened after Rory feels familiar with my friend's house.

I went to Jimmy's shop last month. Trey sits in the carry cage (the cage door was open wide) while Rory begins his exploration all over Jimmy's shop. If I let him be in Jimmy's place for more than 2 hours, I am sure Jimmy will never want to talk to me again - Rory will bite all plastics, climb the shelf and do many destructive things <- I can guarantee this.

Agreed, this kind of cat is a gem. He reminds me of Mr. Spike, my household's ex-Master of Destruction.

Today, Spike is Master of Aerodynamic Sprinting towards slowly closing doors. He doesn't leave a trail of destruction anymore because he knows, speed is gained without objections in the path.

Mostly all my cat knows when I'm angry. Once I shout they will stop what ever they are doing or else... My MC lagi easy.. once they out from their room without my consent... I just clap my hands loudly and shout their name and immediately they will zoooommmmm back to their room... no need for me to catch them. If they trying to hisssss at me and try to be furious I'm 3X more furious than them... show them who the BOSS of the house... I still remember one of my breeder friend says " You should give all your love to your pets but pet is still a pet.Don't over pampered and let them climb up your head. "

I felf the same way to my MariaClara..she such a stuborn cat..Sumtime I geram sgt2 kt dia..nk pukul tapi tak sampai hati..but she will hide somewhere I can't reach her coz she knew I will pukul her..

Still, she likes to bit n scratch me..habis tangan I calar2..

24/7 wants me to watch n main2 with her..otherwise she will pretending that no one around altho' I say goodbye & kiss her before I left to work..wut a cat!!

I heard of dog obedience centres here and there but one for cats? This would be the first for me if there is one in town.

You know Jay, I assume the problems you face is due simply that Rory isn't able to vent his energetic and playful nature appropriately in your living space. What would you do if you had to vent your energy? You can go for golf, where can Rory go? You can switch Astro on, what can Rory switch on? This is all under the circumstances of condo living where space is restricted. Urm...you live in a condo right?

A cat that's supposedly energetic and playful in nature might in fact be a cat that's very stressed in his living space if seen another way. Can you tell if he's stressed and for what reasons?

Even if you send him to an obedience school, they might have everything they need to teach Rory, but when he gets home, you still offer the same living space he once had. Back to square one perhaps in two weeks? If the obedience school offered Rory a jungle enclosure; I know a contractor who can do this for you at your condo's balcony if you want. Read this, the whole point I'm driving at.

Rory has to know who is BOSS but yet be able to do what he likes that's expected of him. Your sofa and carpet issues, you're not the only one and it ain't just confined to MCs, local tabbies too do that. That's when double sided tapes come in handy and heavier carpets come into the picture. On top of that to virtually replace those areas, another was created specially for them. You know that Ikea storage system called GORM, I've put one up with four levels high, 5 columns across; it has become a common area where they scratch at and other stuff. Hang your scratching posts there, have some climbing and napping space here and there, etc. Works two ways for me, cat playground and storage area for my storeroom stuff.

Plenty words here, but those changes I made worked for me. You're another story awaiting the results. Take it as a challenge man, if what you do can turn Rory out for the better, imagine how much stronger your bond is going to be till scratching each other is a thing of the past.

I didnt "yelled" to woozy, that yell goes to Catalina because if Miss Catalina thinks that is the solution, humbly I would say.. you dont have to give your opinion because Rory is meant to be indoor. I asked for opinion on naughty behavior and Miss Catalina should know that the word "OUTDOOR" should not be the solution.

I accept all other ideas.

PS - Catalina, in chat rooms or forums, BIG CASE is considered yelling and if your yelling idea sounds silly, better think twice before saying anything!
