Default Pee luar litter box... How to overcome??

Hello friends..

I need helps here. One of my cat, Bindi started to pee outside the litter box since last month. Cheecky is good because she pee & poop inside the litter box. I'd used repellent already, but it isn't working. What else can I do to change that behaviour??

Your cat does not simply need a litter box - she needs a clean litter box with fresh litter. Your cat will be inhibited from using her litter box if it smells of urine.

Do you see her going in and out of the litter box but not peeing? If so, then she might be having difficulty peeing. You might want to monitor her.

Thanks guys for the ideas.

First of all, how I know that Bindi is the cat peeing out of the box because I saw her doing that. So, I scolded her and she turned to go peeing in the box.

Their litter box is cleaned, coz i clean it every morning. In fact I'd bought new litter box (as I think she needed a new one) but the problem isn't solved. What else should I do? Any idea...

It's good that you've identified that it's Bindi who's peeing out of the box. After you scolded her and she went inside the box to pee, do you see her straining? If she is, you might want to take her to the vet right away. It could be due to urinary tract problem, a common disease among felines.

Another reason could be the litter material. Is it absorbent? If the urine is not absorbed quickly, and Bindi's paws get wet while peeing, or the urine splashes back on her, she is not going to like using the litter box.

Cats are fastidious about cleanliness. They are much, much cleaner than dogs and unlike them, would not pee or poo indiscriminately (my apologies if there are dog lovers here....I love dogs, too, no offense meant).

Another thing, I assume you have removed all traces (smell) of the urine so that Bindi does not automatically return to that spot?

Also another thing, do your cats share one litter box or do each of them have one? It's best to have 1 litter box per cat, for they might not like to use other's "toilets".
