A small, short-legged animal, the sand or sand-dune cat has an unusually broad head with large ears set low down on the side of the head. The position of the ears may help it to present a low profile when stalking prey.

Sand cats are about the size of a small domestic cat, and very similar to the Chinese desert cat (Felis bieti). Their soft dense fur is a pale sandy brown, light grey or ochre.

Sand cats inhabit inhospitable arid regions which are characterized by rolling sand dunes, flat stony plains and rocky deserts.

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) lists the sand cat on Appendix II.

Aiiyoyoyo they look so cute... so far I only came across only one exotic breeder that breed this cat... I dont know if he still breeding it.

If the breed of this beautiful cat is on the Endangered List, I think, we as cat lovers should not encourage the trade of these animals as pets for human enjoyment.
Some animals are more magnificent when in their original habitat doing what they have been doing before humans tried to hunt or domesticate it.

I am totally agreed with you. I think wild cats like Sand cat, Lynx, Bobcat, Servals, leopard cat, forest cat and etc are best left wild and free. They do better in their own environment or habitat as they are evoke to survive in such environment and they are much, much happier doing what they normally do like hunting, exploring, playing, interacting, eating their prey whole and etc. Human cannot possible provide the all these.

Well I'm totally agree with you but from the statistic shows by researcher it seems that wild animal population is declining from time to time. Human population is getting larger and we require more and more space to live.

No need to say too farlah.. just see what happen to our jungle right now… at first it was a Hutan simpan.. the next thing you know it’s a condominium block… where all these animal should go ?? run deeper in the forest ? run till where ? coz there is human everywhere… Kalo tak condo pun most jadi ladang.

I DO NOT agree with wild caught animal as pet but I agree that their population is maintain through breeding facilities… and some can be domesticated. Some successful domesticated exotic animal are like iguana, ferret, sugar glider, birds like macaw, african grey and so on. Why don’t we have issues on them… Before they being breed and domesticated they are caught from the jungle.

Bengal also can be consider exotic coz it’s a hybrid between ALC and domestic cat. If some off the wild origin cat is not domesticated then no Bengal, no Savanah , no Egyptian Mau and no Abyssinian.

Kalo Tiger or Lion tu.. different storylah...

Anyway I dont think any breeder would breed this since the price of each almost reach 20 K for bottle raise kits.
