Default Kucing Malaysia

I have read a web page quite sometimes ago about Malaysian trying to established / create a breed named "Kucing Malaysia". It seems that we don't want to be left out by our neighbours - Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia or even Singapore! - who have their own national cat breed. Have any one of you out there actually come across this particular "Kucing Malaysia" breed?? Hope the cats are good looking...

Default Kuching Malaysia

Hi Fairra

I heard about it too a few years ago. If I'm not mistaken, this breeder (a Malay guy) is trying to breed a domestic cat with jungle cats. Heh heh I thought we had a Kuching Malaysia already? Heh heh - our beautiful stray cats!

Oh the Singapura is so cute! but apparently it's not really from Singapore, The exotic story is that some expats found these longkang cats and brought it back to the US but the other story is that it's a small cat that a Texan breeder just bred and called it the Singapora. In fact, other than the Siamese which is originally from Siam and the Pekingese dog from the Imperial palaces of Peking, the Bali cat is another artificially created Oriental.

Interesting... but I think it would not happen if our current cat association are not that active and aggressive . Our local stray cats ... are they the original "made in malaysia"?

Our FSM/MCC website... very uninformative (if u can surf ... at present!!!)... how to fight for our own "new" cat breed?

Let see:

Our Asian Leopard Cat (ALC) + American local cat = Bengal (made in USA)
Well ... credit to the person. She had done a very good job in creating a wonderful breed. A thorough research and study on the new breed ... and after that actively promoting the new breed into the association.

I do believe that if we can identify our own original local breed (history/name) + cat association (active/ agressive/ informative/ knowledgeable/ genuine cat lover) our own "Malaysia breed" or at least "from Malaysia" can be created and promoted.

That are my opinion ...

there seems to have been more than one attempt at a malaysian breed. the bengal is not malaysian, neither is the singapora or the kucinta.

there was a kuching piawaian malaysia. don't know what has happened to it though.

sad, sad, sad

perhaps there is no market or much public interest here for a local breed cat

Last year on March when there was an international show at Midvalley, this club had recognise so called Kucing Malaysia. The look is ike siamese but a lil bit bigger then siamese. There colour is about the same (cream) and a lil of seal point.

I'll try to find the picture again....

i also have read somewhere about kucing malaysia project. they're still in the making process i believe. have malaysian stray blood in there also. i believe they will need several generations before the real cat come out... cheers...

as for the singapura cats, i read about it also, too many controversy. the breeder say they were expats in s'pore when they found the cats. bring back to US and start breeding with cats imported from s'pore... anyone meet the lookalikes in s'pore pls inform to verify... the breeder said the cats are local to s'porean harbour...
