Why wouldn't there be a pedigree available if its parents were Aussie cats????

I do wish that selling of kittens in pet shops would cease - I saw a shop in KL and the kittens had obvious ringworm, were too young to be away from Mum and were some outrageous price - but like you, I guess the general public doesn't know that buying from registered breeders is safer and cheaper. How about a campaign happening to push the buying of registered, pedigreed kittens direct from the breeders????

Hi Lesley, I am Azhar, the guy from times square...you awarded my kittens 1st and 2nd placing respectively and my male best longhair, and also told me a good tip with regards to the eye stains..for your info, i have ordered the starter kit

the prices you quoted together with carebear does not include the flight...i had bought a cat from Victoria, Australia and had agreed the price of the cat only to be told that the flight would cost me AUD$700 which is quite surprising since its about USD$450 from US and 350Euro from Europe, its about 180pounds from UK...I had initially thought that getting from Australia would be a cheaper alternative due to it being closer but i am not sure why the flight is similar or more expensive than countries that are further away...

In Malaysia, you can get a pet quality neutered kitten for RM1200 with 2 vaccinations, CFA cert and includes the neutering....for breeder quality its about RM1600 neutered and RM2000 for show quality. For breeding, it normally starts from RM2000 onwards. Other breeders might have a different pricing system...All the prices are for pedigree cats

I dont understand why people ie the public would rather pay more money for mixed breeds... I have heard/seen prices quoted over RM600 for cats that arent pedigree...

Please dont get me wrong, i have nothing against household cats but i am against those people that pick up strays and sell to pet shops for a quick buck and then the customer ends up with heartbreak due to unknown health risks to these kittens. There are so many kittens that are being sold below 2 months, not weaned and no vaccinations...If you have really fallen in love with the kitten, do insist on the pet shop giving the vaccination coz some kittens do get side effects after the vaccinations especially if they are not in the best of health to begin with. By resisting to lower your expectations, you are in fact making these people put more emphasive on their kittens if they want it to be sold...never buy out of pity...

Please when you do get a cat, insist on it being at least 3 months of age, vaccinated, eating and drinking on its own...trust me, by waiting, it saves you a whole lot of trouble in taking care of them once you get them...1 month more isnt that long...you can always pay a deposit and visit them when you like..

Best of all, his place is in Bandar Sri Damansara - not so far from where you are (been following your postings and if not mistaken, you're at D'sara Damai)...
Hope it helps..

Thanks for the kind words... the kittens that you saw, i only have 2 males left..

I certainly remember - hope you find the starter kit very successful!

Try AU$1720 for freight of a desexed kitten to Portugal as a pet???? (That was in May. American doctor living near Lisbon and the happiest home any kitten could want!!!! OK - he was a "mature" kitten - 6 mths and heavy, but still...) Part of the problem here which pushes freight prices up is the fact that you can't organise your own export these days. Has to be done by a licenced exporter. But are you sure about the US cost, for eg? Was that recent? I know someone who imported from the US to Oz last year and it cost around AU$1500. Whichever way you look at it, the airlines are ripping people off! (Aviation fuel hasn't increased SO much!)

Sorry - I have a big problem with teeny noseleathers and tight nostril aperture.... the CFA standard requires "short, snub and BROAD..." (Ignoring broad for a moment, "short" suggests some length, which is something some breeders ignore.) Now this is a health hazard - and I wonder what these cats would sound like in maturity? Could well have to undergo surgery to be able to breathe properly. It's not shortness of nose that causes such problems and I hate to hear a persian/exotic having problems breathing when you judge them. Once they mature and those muzzles fill out, the problem can worsen.

Lesley,

I do agree with you, but the problem is not only the breeders ignore that fact, most of the judges also use to ignore it.
And for your info, those in the pictures are CFA's National Winners.

I'm sure they are...thereare many cats all over which do well despite pinprick noseleathers. Don't know whether because I'm a breeder I'm super conscious of it as a judge or vice versa, (probably both!) Give me nostrils that look like a double barrelled shotgun!
