Yeah, I got the idea about breathing. Dont really like the breathing problem in cats. I've looked at all my 3 exotics pedigrees, I can't find Owlett Maverick(may be cause I only have 4 generations pedigree) maybe his name is further up .My lines includes Jedidiah,Lion House,Jovan,Macguss,Lynges,Marhei and Light Air. Maybe you did sell your cat to them b4.

Pardon for being ignorance, PKD DNA stands for...???

PKD is Polysystic Kidney Disease...to go into details, i shall let Lesley lah to explain...i just know the surface...but all persians should be tested for it. am not sure if the test is available in Msia, but for imported cats from US, UK and Aust, it is normally done before they are shipped, if not ask the breeder to do it. PKD can be passed down to the kittens, so do ensure your breeding stock is clear of this...sorry am not able to give a full answer

PKD (as above) is to be found in over 40% of Aust persians/exotics...well, that was the statistic 2 yrs ago. With luck (and with breeders being more careful/caring) that will drop. It also occurs in related breeds.... Brit, Fold, burmilla, etc. Previously, ultrasound was the only way to test, but that had top be done a) properly - by a qual sonographer and b) to be safe, several times, from late kittenhood for a few years. There have been false negs and false positives (sometimes from "GP" vets without top equipment, but also from the specialists too) . Now DNA testing is available there's absolutely NO excuse not to establish PKD status. (This has been available for some ....8 mths?) It's a once off test and can be done on kittens before they leave home, with 100% accuracy. I had mine done (sent to) USA as soon as it was possible, but now there's testing done in Oz, at AU$40 - half the price I paid. Google on "Gribbles" (in Victoria). All you need to do is send 3 labelled buccal swabs (you can do it yourself) per cat (they send the kit) and mail it to their lab. Please, everyone - start doing so!!!!!

all my imported cats were already tested for PKD, FIP and Felv before they came, so i am quite satisfied but at the same time just like all diseases it can/may crop up... depends on your luck but once ur cat is tested, i m sure u can sleep better at night dont think there is any test kit available in Msia... do correct me if i am wrong

just to correct you, i dah jawab dah actually i have helped quite a number of forumers(those that i know and also those that i dont know) behind the scene coz not everybody will agree with the way i sort things out and different ppl have their own way solving different problem...so its better kalau i PM them my views, nanti tak agree, gaduh pulak lagi buang masa
