Hello
I need some understanding on Persian Cat. I only have one persian blue female kitten. Got her with quite some money. She is doll face. I would like too find out No. 1 how many types of face are there for persians? No. 2, if the Persian is Doll face does that mean it is a mix cat. No.3 If the persian is Doll Face can it enter contest under persian category or open category (maksud I category kucing kampung). No. 4 Does the cats association recongnise doll face: cam mane gan MCC /FSM. No. 5 The persian must have certificate to contest under persian category right? Which one of this face is more valuable (I mean not economically but for contest)? I am now already grooming my 5months gal for future contest, if doll face cannot enter contest then I want to get another one that I can go for contest. But actually not for winning tapi for keseronokan satu keluarga bertanding kat contest, tapi pergi contest pun nak lah contest betul betul kan.. takkan langgar peraturan plak..(tapi kalo termenang..happy jugak) |

There's no such thing in the "real" cat fancy as a doll-face persian - there are just persians! One type, for the show bench. It'd have to be entered in the persian class (assuming it's registered) but if by "doll face" you mean not as typey as winners these days, it's not very likely to win, I'm afraid. If it's longer in the face than show quality persians, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a mixed breed - just old-fashioned breeding, perhaps? Though it could be mixed breed, having seen some in the pet section on Sept 11 in KL. Where did you get your cat? To give you an idea of price, a pet (still show quality, but desexed) is about AU$450 upwards, 2 vaccinations and desexed, here in Aust. The most valuable for showing is the one which fits the standard best. I'll try to attach something to show what is considered good type these days.

Wow.. my gal has a longer nose (face). No way she looks like the champion posted up there. I bought my gal at pet shop at petaling street at about RM680 (I dont know how much is this in AUD.) She came without vaccination and deworming at 2months age, so the vet cost was another thing. I was told by this pet shop that both the parents are persian imported from Ossie and this is the offspring and no certificate. But I like this gal simply becos she was so active and kept miowing at me requesting me to take her home at the pet shop. So thats what I did. I didnt thought of her for competition but now that she is 6 months I think she is looking more and more gorgeous and the hair is so shinny and fluffy and she looks so much pretiier (in my eyes), thats when I thought this gal can make a good show... Anyway looks like I will enter her for household category next time and get another cat for persian category with cert. I had enquired some persian in pet shop last week , they were asking for RM1300 with certificate. I dont know what association but i didnt want a 8 months old cat all the more a male. I prefer female. I am looking for around 3months age. Hope someday I can groom a champ..
Thanks for your kind reply - I know what to do now. ![]() |

Kulstud,
Some of the forummers here are breeders... the one I know of that has really nice Persians is Qeyshar - some of us had been to his home before and his babies are beaufitul - and with cert. Maybe you could PM him for more info. He breeds Mainecoon and Ragdolls also. I don't know much about breed standard but his kittens are just so healthy and active... sooo adorable! Best of all, his place is in Bandar Sri Damansara - not so far from where you are (been following your postings and if not mistaken, you're at D'sara Damai)... Hope it helps..

Do you have a photo of her? The price you paid (if you add to it the cost of vaccination, desexing etc) is about what I'd sell a pet kitten for and it would come with pedigree, naturally, and would be registered - and with parents' PKD DNA test results. Why wouldn't there be a pedigree available if its parents were Aussie cats????
I do wish that selling of kittens in pet shops would cease - I saw a shop in KL and the kittens had obvious ringworm, were too young to be away from Mum and were some outrageous price - but like you, I guess the general public doesn't know that buying from registered breeders is safer and cheaper. How about a campaign happening to push the buying of registered, pedigreed kittens direct from the breeders???? Lesley Quote:

Hi Lesley,
I agree with you. In Uk and Ireland pet shops are not allowed to sell cats and dogs. They have to find one from a breeder. I think its a good idea to do the same thing in Malaysia. Here in Ireland pet shops sells all pets stuff, birds and small animals only. I bought my first persian 15y ago from a petshop in malaysia saying that its a pedigree and he show me a picture from a poster how she will look like. She is a doll face persian cost RM800 but no papers, not vaccinated, wormed, scared as they are not use to home environment and human loving, dont know their background and they only look like 6-7weeks old. I dont know anything about cats at that time as Im only 11 years old. I would strongly advise anyone that looking for a kitten to get one from a breeder even though its only a pet that you are looking for. At least you know their background, you can visit the parents and breeder's house to have a look at how she take care of the kittens. Kittens are well socialised used to kids and home surroundings, healthy, loving, vaccinated, wormed and breeder should be able to provide any advice that the new owner might need. Furthermore we can aspect what the kitten personality/character will be like as each pedigree breed is different. Persian-loving and laid back, siamise-vocal. ![]()
