Normallah 6 month if you are getting a kitten.... unless you are buying young adult or an adult.. tu pun ambil masa satu duer bulan to ship in. sekarang pun tengah musim sejuk... mana boleh ship.

In my case, it's because the kitten is not born yet not because musim sejuk or what. I am savoring the beauty of my curtains and furniture while I still can, because I know they are going to be wrecked, heh heh. Uh oh, my other two cats won't know what'll hit 'em .

Anyway, from what I had inquired, there's a lot of inbreeding going on in the Turks. The reason being is that the Turkish government is making it difficult for cat breeders to export the "van Kedi" from their country, mainly because they want to preserve these cats which they consider a part of their heritage.

Catalina, if you are really interested in breeding, then the best cattery I found on the net is Pairodocs. This cattery is responsible for introducing the breed in the US, they produce champion lines and they are one of the few who get their breeding stock from Lake Van in Turkey.

hi depster...

not me lah who's interested in breeding, burnian is pocket not deep enough yet even to but a local bred pedigree

yeah, about the restriction on outgoing Turkish Van & Angoras, yes the goverment considered them as national heritage as the number is diminishing... however, if the breeder is a good one, they will try to lessen the inbreeding. but quite hard as the breed is supposed to be kept pure and no crossbreeding allowed

ooohh... i simply love van kedi... in my eyes they dont look like normal persian at all.. touch them and you know they're not the usual typical moggies.. and to me persian are all the flat face long hair with the very heavy undercoats and fluffy and rounded apearance with a docile temperaments.

years back persian is the only long hair we know, (since we are little) and every long hair eversince is persian... its good that now we have a lot of long hair moggies in malaysia, it adds up to varieties...

and yes, depster, i've contacted pairodocs, they recomended australia since its nearer, its better for the cat, and i have to say its better for my pocket.. hehe.. but its true, they are very rare, and very unpopular. (if only i could get a pair of van kedi! which is even rarer!)

and thank you for your opinions kak Sha, catalina, i gained new knowledge already from you people, depster (maybe i could visit your van someday), and allycat, i watched that programme on NG chanel as well, twice! cats: aristocrats. too bad it was too short.. and afi76.

and kak Sha, maybe someday i could visit your lovely cattery? i've never seen norwegian forest up close and personal...

timbang-timbang, still unable to make up my mind... is it so common then? i mean the look of these turkish van? i thought they look unique... maybe i terketinggalan zaman?

timbang lah dulu pakai neraca ke, timbang elektronik ke... turkish van and turkish angora is almost natural breed and an ancient breed. maybe a bit ketinggalan zaman, but if you like them, don't care what other people say

and you can be assured those who seek out for one will take care of them well... unless you sell to someone who have no idea what turkish van is... well, that's another story
