My cat Melly is nearly two years old. We have tried 3 times to breed her (with professional breeder) but unsuccessful. It has been my intention to spay her but since i'm expecting a baby i was advised by my mum etc. until i have delivered (superstitions la ni). The thing is, i cannot bear seeing her on heat again..she looked as if she's really suffering plus the whole household couldn't get enough sleep for at least a week.

i can't remember in which thread it was mentioned, there is such thing as an injection to suppress the hormones? Does anyone know anything about this? And if so, where can i have it done? I have asked a vet, but this person didn't know anything about this.

HELP! The neighbourhood male cats are starting to call and i think Melly will be on heat again in the next few days time.

Here's a lil bit of info. My parents have been sending their female cat for this jabs.It's done every 6 months (If I'm not mistaken). They have it done at the Govt Vet (in JB since they live in JB). Perhaps you should try our govt vet here in KL

There are birth control pills which can be used in cats, but they can have serious unwanted side effects such as the development of diabetes mellitus.

They cannot be used for long periods of time. Perhaps this could be one of your alternatives.

PS- Dont repeat my mistake when I was a kid. I gave my cat with hehehe , my mom's birth control pills. My cat later on got pregnant and gave birth to a cacat baby. I regret that until today.

Thanks guys for the replies, i will definitely call up a few private vet clinics trow. Yg lecehnya now ni since govt doesn't work on Saturdays, i don't think the govt clinics are opened.
