thanks for explaining the eye color. i'm not 100% sure need to read a few more times to understand but at least have a bit of understanding.
and thanks for the blue eyes explanation my cat is one of the following depending on who i asked: siamese, balinese or himalayan cross. he has blue eyes (not deep and not the very light blue, but mid-blue). i always wondered why his eyes were pink or reddish when it is is dark. now i know. thanks so much. can't wait for more online genetics lessons - if you have time. |

Kucat one question about colours n coats. If these two cats breed, what will the kittens be? The color of coats. And will it be longhair also? How about the face? Long or flat face. As mentioned earlier, it will be long face right?

hi countess, i've created a thread on coat colours titled "torties, calicos and tricolours" where i posted articles on coat colours... the starting is on the title, but i get carried away with other coat types as well ![]() however, one thing i can tell you the babies will be longhair lah as both parents have the recessive longhair gene ![]() |

Countess u are right, the kittens will have long hair and all of the kitten will be colour point carrier (cpc). Meaning that they can produce colour point kittens even they do not like one. Since white is so dominant, most of the kittens will be white and cpc. The colour point cat in the picture is seal point and is more pointed compared to the white one....so if mated less quality kittens might be produced but it will improve the colour point descendants but down grade the white cats descendants....mmmm that is why very careful selection of cats are used to breed and produce quality cats. It is up to the breeder's decision where he can impove the cat quality. The colour point cat is not that pointed he might carry the recessive gene of flat face. U might get quality cats too...This type of breeding is usually done to improve certain type breed...in this case maybe u want to improve the colour point breed. I think the next generation should be crossed to cpc of good quality and u might get the best himalayan or colour point cat. good luck!! |
