My personal experience, it took about less then four days. The male was the one initiating the first move to know her. I suggest take turn put them in the cage, giving enough time for the female to explore him with a barrier too. Not sure if you have other resident cat under the same roof, if do that will take some more time.
The female will hiss a bit in the beginning, however the male will be curious and he’ll not give up or even move away from her till she submits to him. That’s my own experience. Be near them at all time whenever you plan to let loose both the cats, initial aggression will lead to lesser possible chance of being friendly. Keep water spray next to you if at all they end up fighting. Spray water to stop any cat fight. All the best. ![]() |

I think better not spray them like the way we’d do for birds in sunny days.
Their fur gets wet and you know how cats like to rub against the ground and imagine if your cat is a white in colour… They’ll get cold if you spray water on them like spraying on birds. If it’s a hot sunny day, turn on the aircond in the house, my kids just love the aircond room. My aircond and fan are on during the day with a timer of cause and evening the fan only. |

my male cat is not so aggressive. when the female cat get angry, he will just leave her alone, but he will come back again later. i tried to mix them, saw the female felt unsecure and just stay at one place. should i keep the female cat longer in her cage?

Keep the most curious fella out and the least keen to know fella in the cage longer. In this way the curious cat won’t move away easily from the cage.
It’s almost 3 days plus now, they should have been ok with each other. Are these cats ready for mating? If they are it’ll be faster usually. Try releasing; make sure there are two people to handle both the cats separately. Hissing is fine, but if there are any signs of aggression don’t force them. Let them take their time… You might want to try feeding their favourite wet food at the same time at a safe distance. |

don't let him force her if she's not on heat... she might just slap him hard on his face...
You're right the male won't give up, he'll just keep following her everywhere.. but don't let him force her if she's not on heat... |
