nope no patched tabbies. if any it means the dam has red and wasnt registered as a tortie. tend to get this problem with warmer brown females and the identification is a bit hard.

as far as i know it doesnt work that way. should be the same for abys and eburms?
also, if mum OR dad is red/has red, resulting red kits will be males only.
if mum and dad is red/has red, resulting red kits can be either male or female.

You can't carry O gene (red/cream) - it has to be there to produce it. Mind you, in a female, it can be as little as a few stray red hairs between a toe! Originally you said mum was 'silver' - what do you mean? Black silver? Blue tortie silver? (Does 'silver' in this context mean smoke, tipped, shaded or tabby?)

Well, admittedly it's not so very easy tyo find a red female - tortie is the more common expression of O (red) gene in females.

No - what I meant was that there've been quite a few cats which have passed as (say) a black or a black silver which in fact bred as torties (throwing O gene kittens) but to all intents and purposes, they had no red on them. UNTIL a 100% careful inspection was done and a few stray red hairs were located. Or even, the paw pads or lips were mottled...no sign of red fur..
