My dear friend, do not listen to yr colleague's very, very bad and cruel idea of withholding some of her kittens. If the mother cat can be found, always, always give them back to her! Just give ample food and clean water to the Mom cat which has a hard time finding food for herself and feeding her young. If you give her lots of good food (kitten kibbles) she won't have to go and hunt for food (she may get killed on the road or injured by evil humans in the process while leaving her young unattended and open to danger).

Which dumb human says the mother cannot count and will not miss all her kids? I would like to shoot that smelly mouth! I have watched my Caroline and the black mommy keep coming back and wailing for the remaining kittens! Do U know how extremely traumatic it is for the Mom cat?

Friend, the milk that U bought is not reallly suitable for the kittens, my friend becos, in most cases, after a while the kittens end up with diarrhea and stomach upset. The best is still the mother's milk. Cow's milk is not really suitable, even many of the commercially available kitten milk replacers produces diarrhea.

It is actuallyl really hard to take care of kittens and ensure their survival, many, many get sick and die. They get a lot of nutrients from the mother. They also need to learn many, many life survival lessons from Mom.

Tototi, U have a kind heart, that is good. But U also need to know what best to do for young kittens. Just feed the mom with good quality kitten food (becos she is nursing and also need to replenish her own body) and clean filtered chlorine-free water. Stay away and give her lots of space and privacy, otherwise she will not feel secure and end up running away with the kids, and then U will not be able to feed her and help her at all.

Maygyver: ...yahh..they look quite the same...hehe..maybe got related ekk..

Catalina: frisian? hehe...you know, this is my dream cat..black and white since I've seen one big black & white cat at a petshop, not for sale just boarding..it looks so dashing and elegant..How I wish I own one like that..

Furkids: don't shoot my colleagues' smelly mouth..they just love the kitties..at the same time they don't want mommy feel lonely, so that's how the idea crops up. I'll continue with the story, many episodes coming.....and pls don't shoot me either if I do something not to your likings.

The story continues....

I'm not sure how old the mother is..but as far as I know, this is the second set of kitties she produced. The mother to me is considered wild and not friendly kind..I've never seen a mother cat so fierce, dared enough to jump or spit at you..fortunately most of the time, I often on the other side of the fence. so, she just attacked the fence. For the previous set of kitties (4), 2 died young (one was run over by my car, I never knew the kitty hiding under my car when I did reverse my car)..mother wasn't around..the kitty died on my palm.. It was a real blue day to me, couldn't concentrate at work, feeling guilty, pity etc. How I wish the mother is a friendly kind..so I could take care all of them.

Two other kitties survived until age 3-4 months old..(I guess). I managed capturing pic of these two. I fed them by putting some friskies or whiskas near the fence..I realized they loved whiskas more....They would come eating, when I wasn't near. Mother also joined them..During that time, I never knew this forum exists..
These are the pics of the previous two..in memory: almost a year...

got run over by one of the neighbour's car..this one became manja to me at final days his/her life..
I could hold and caress her/him...but the mother would come growling...so daring..

also manja...been missed....

It really touched me, when there's still another half kg of whiskas kibbles when they were no longer around me,... gone forever...

to be continued

Look at the pics below. The kittens have almost similar white and black fur.

Tototi, if U love cats and really want to take care of them, first and foremost, U need to have an open mind to understand their real nature and the way they r designed, ok.

The mother cat of course is fierce. Female animals with young will fight to the death to protect the young, so do not take personal offence to the mother cat being fierce towards U despite yr kindness and good intentions towards her and her babies. You can only proceed successfully if U accept certain rules in the animal kingdom and try to understand the animal instead of just wishing that the animal understand U and your actions.

All my cats that I took in were wild and fierce like that mommy cat. I even had to use an animal trap to catch the mommy cat for spaying. I observed and researched and learned in order to understand their minds and instinct and do things their way and in the end winning their trust and love. U can do it too.

probably I was so sad to hear the story of her kittens died because run over by your car/neighbour's car. Maybe you can persuade the mother cat first by feeding her but at the same time keep your distance. Slowly she will gain your trust.

It really moved me to tears to see those poor babies..i have few strays at home as well, the story, well, more or less is almost similar like yours..

And after cleaning it he looked so adorable and I named it Oren.

Unfortunately this motherless baby couldn't make it for so long.. It died 2 months later..

And another one I rescued from the drain and it took me months to go near him, he's too fierce and dangerous. He'll dashed here and there and break everything! Hence the name Dash . But somehow over the time he will, although halfheartedly, come nearer, and eat the food that we give. It needs patience, lots of them.. Mama baby is very protective over her children, she'll do anything to ensure the safety of the babies. Patience and passion are needed, lots of it!

My baby Dash

note: i'm sorry as I dont know how to resize the photo..

Default remember ?

January 1st 2008 - strays kitties. I released them on January 3rd, to be with their fierce mother.

23 January 2008 - I caught him sleeping outside my house door one morning before I went to work. Other siblings ran very fast and escaped. I tried to look for them after that but they were very smart, till now they are nowhere to be found. Guess they are no longer in this world...managed to save only this one.

Latest pics below (27 May 2008): It's been 4 months since I saved this kitty..I called him Vinh... fully vaccinated & spayed two wks ago....

..have tried foods like innova evo, eagle pack holistic, iams kitten, avoderm, RC kitten...I think he likes iams more.
