Default Strays and me

One evening on Jan 1st 2008 (the new year's day), heavy downpour outside. I heard meowing, meowing sound from the backyard. what I saw was these 4 stray kitties struggling to survive by climbing the drain..so pity..I rushed out, no matter how heavy the downpour.... I dried them by patting em with towel. Put them in a box. I tried to fed them milk, but I consider myself failed since they drank so little..I bought a cage, and put some old towels to make em comfortable.

kitties

But after two nights they's been staying in my house ...the mothercat came looking for them..keep on meowing and meowing loud at the backyard. and the kitties responded back to their mother's meow..so noisy, the kitties look restless..meowing, running here and there inside the cage..havoc..

mother

The mother was a fierce kind..she tried to get into into myhouse buy climbing windows etc. Confused, inexperienced with kitten care..I had no choice, have to release them. so they can be with the mother. Mixed feelings inside me actually..sad, regret, feeling guilty etc....

to be continued.

Lucky kittens with a responsible mother! The 5 that I found, cry their lung out, driving my adult cats restless and can be heard all over my apartment building as I stayed top floor, disturbing other tenants. And yet, I didnt heard once the mother respond to their cries. What more to say come and look for the kittens. But, spray and urinate my plant pot outside the door, yes they do. Guess the mother cat same as the master. IRRESPONSIBLE!!

mommy was out looking for food when rain came down pouring heavily. Mommy prbly waited for rain to stop. Kids got scared due to rain and thunder. Mommy could be facing some problem on way home (such as got chase by kids, dogs etc etc)

Talking

Hi tototi,

feed the mum cat and try to win her trusty to you, then try to catch her and neuter her...this is the best way to help the strays otherwise same situation may happen next time when she give new babise, and next time she might not be so luck like now

Thanks for the comments purfecto, macgyver, bareen31 & kitty ,
Purfecto: I guess so, mommy was looking for food when rain came. About feeding the mom, I will continue with the story later..
macgyver: yes, very the garang one. She would look into your eyes ready to attack with seram sound..can I see your kittens pic? look exactly the same, really?
bareen31: the mother very protective one...but no future I guess.
kitty: thx for suggestions.

Let's continue the story.

With mixed feelings, on Jan 3 morning, I had to release the kittens..... First I had to make the fierce mother go away first by pointing the waterhose and shoot towards her ....she ran away. Then I put the cage at my backyard, left the cage door open... then I watched thru window.. and the kitties ran out of the cage..the mother quickly took one by one to another secret place.

At work, I told some collegues about my story..and show em the kitties pic. They said, I should have released only 2 of the 4 kittens..the mothercat cannot count maa.. Mmm..why didn't I think that way? I've wasted money on the cage, milk etc. The next day, I looked around the backyard for the kittens.. but really couldn't find any trace of them. I became so interested with kittens/cats after visiting this forum.

If the mother is too young and still a kitten herself, often she does not know how to look after the baby. Sometimes the poor mommy herself is half-starved, at the same time struggling to take care of a few other kittens, maybe relocating them becos some evil humans disturbed her nest and kids, shooing or threw them out, so she herself has a hard time.

Animals r not irresponsible as far as I have seen, never evil nor calculating, only the human species. But thank God U found the 5th unfortunate kiddo. Don't be mad at the mommy, Bareen, pity her ...
