I don't know of any cat-friendly places but I am sure that in Malaysia, there are not many public places you can bring your cats (and dogs) except for gatherings this weekend?

But the cafe is in Melaka lah... Hehehehhe...

The lady owner loves cats and brings her cats to the cafe often. Sometimes her friends also bring their pets there, kept on a leash and sat QUIETLY at the bottom of the owner's chair.

u r right about that.
when Patches was the only dog, we'd bring her along for dinner at coffee-shops. she remains the best-behaved of the lot! now there are 3 of them but we sometimes bring them for breakfast at a nearby coffee-shop and sit away from everyone.
we have brought them to PD on weekdays. dare not do that on weekends cos of the crowds. also once to Fraser's Hill where surprisingly, a Middle Eastern young family came up and wanted to play with our Pebbles (then a 4-month old puppy) at the park.

a colleague's aunt said she brought her cat (dunno what breed, from chezchen - right spelling ah?) in a basket to KLIA and was ticked off by someone.
she retorted by saying the cat has her own passport, cost RM5k. "when u were born, your mother also did not pay so much! the cat more expensive than u!"
quite a character, this lady!

anyway, my cats can't be brought anywhere except the vet's clinic! oh, when Tommy was a kitten, we brought him once to the swimming pool cos we had just returned from the vet's and we had swimming lessons. he was in a cage and the kids loved it! my housemate did bring him along for her company's trip to PD and lost him at the beach when he got spooked by the sound of the roaring sea. fortunately, he was found by the man running the inner tube float rental who took him home and wanted to keep him except that he was not fully toilet-trained then
the man brought him back to the beach the next day and voila, housemate and cat were reunited!

I wonder if it is in contravention to any food safety laws. I sometimes see some silly people bringing their lap dogs and putting it on their laps while they eat. While I like dogs too, it is the wrong place to bring their animals. I am OK with outdoor cafes. But I am OK with working dogs as they are very well trained and their masters have special needs

Because cats have a tendency to wander- unlike well trained dogs and are easily spooked (bolt off) I don't think cats can be taken to cafes (unless in a cage).

Well, couple of weeks ago when I went to Pet Safari at Ikano Power Centre, I say this couple sitting outside a cafe (same floor with Pet Safari..) having coffee with their cute Labrador (adult) by their side... The Labrador just sitting there n did not move an inch.

I believed if cats whom are professionally trained, they could do that as well. but as of now, inside the voyager they are loh... furthermore, not many cafes / restaurants allow animals in their vicinity

NOT TRUE!

Pepper goes everywhere I go. She goes to the mamak and sits on the chair on her own. For the 1st few minutes, she would want to snif here and there...after that she will just sit on my lap or on the sit next to me...

She also enjoys a ride in the car where she sits on the dashboard, arm rest or my lap.
