Btw, that's my vet in the news picture.

Hi Gothicca,
indeed there is a risk to take whether ur cat wud contract diseases fr other cats. chances that r pretty high. It is all down to the owner themselves. If he/she is a responsible person, then they shud not board their cat(s) shud they hv fleas or any other contagious illness...

well, indeed it is a bit pricey. I guessed for those who hv a lot to spend wud opt for this. Juz remember that no matter how fancy it looks, juz dun forget to inspect the area 1st for eg, the health conditions of boarded cats, procedures of 'checking-in', liabilities etc.

Well obviously, the risk you face will be higher at boarding places you're not familliar with but at the end of the day, the risk is to be treated just as real even if you board at places you know.

That's why experienced owners always make sure their cats are up to date on their vaccinations, they also make sure they don't forget to include flea/mite preventions before they release their cats for boarding.

This itself addresses most of the common health related issues. Anything else, some of Horatio's points on "inspection" should be adopted too.

You know, even if I board my cats at a friend's place, I'd still get my cats ready. The last thing I'd want to know is that my cats infected my friend's cats with fleas or something. It sometimes isn't about the rest, it also is about you too.

And Gothicca, pregnant? Paranoia man.

wooz....

Default Pet Lovers Centre

Pet Safari at Ikano Power Centre is the KL branch of the Pet Safari in Singapore located at Eastpoint Mall, Simei. The main pet shop tenant of Pet Safari is Pet Lovers Centre. It is one of the biggest pet shops in Singapore with I think 8-9 outlets throughout the city state.

I actually went to 4 of their outlets three weeks ago... Pet Safari in Eastpoint Mall, Pet Lovers Centre at Plaza Singapura, Pet Lovers Centre at Bugis Junction and Pet Lovers Centre at Holland Village. Only Pet Safari and the one at Holland Village have live pets.

Also visited 3 other pet shops while in Singapore. Pet Lovers Centre pricing is on the higher side but they give 5% discounts for PLC members and 10% for Cat Welfare Society members of Singapore.

The next time I'm in KL, I'll definitely pay a visit to Pet Safari at Ikano Power Centre.

Hi momo,
long time no hear.. anyway, since it is the so-called 1st of the kind in the Klang Valley, it is actually nothing to b impressed abt. i actually doubt if the attendants r really animal lovers or juz for the sake of being paid... Anyway, do not like the idea of confine inside a building with no fresh air apatah lagi greeneries. At least the one in Pets WOnderland, 1 U (although it is small area) there's fresh air....

hullo ling fiy

sorri took so long 2 response... must be dreaming lah, heheh...

ok, the pet shops i went to in spore r located in several places:

1) Pet Lovers Centre:
- main branch at Eastpoint Mall (ground fl, next to Simei MRT) - where Pet Safari is located.
- one branch at Plaza Singapura, along Orchard Rd (shopping centre near to Dhoby Ghaut MRT), basement level 2
- one branch at Parco Bugis Junction, and
- one branch at Holland Village

2) Pets Zone at No. 225 Outram Rd (Tel: 65-6222 2555) - have to walk abt 5-10 mins from Outram MRT... not so easy to find if not sure of the outram park area

3) Sundream Pet Land at Level #02-24, Far East Shopping Centre along Orchard Rd (no live pets)

If u go to Holland Village, there are 2 other pet shops there but i 4got their names... one is inside the shopping centre on the 3rd or 4th Fl, and the other is more difficult to find at it's at the end of a lorong opposite the shopping centre but has some nice british shorthairs.

Pet Lovers Centre prices r on the higher end but do give 5% discount. the rest are abt the same prices though Pets Zone could give more discount on bulk purchases.

hope that helps... anything else u wanna know, let me know...

Yup, I agree with you. There is nothing special about the place. I will stick to my usual boarding place - Dr. Hashnul Clinic.

FYI, I wrote a will in the boarding signing paper, should anything happened to me *lmao*. If he doesnt follow the will I told him my hantu will haunt him for the rest of his life. Mwahahaha!
