Ridzwan, whatever happens, you and your wife should be applauded for your efforts, where most of us ( including me! ) are unable / afraid / plain chicken to do. If all fails, and the poor kittens die, then, there's no more that you can do. It's God's will lah, my friend. What I can do is pray and hope that everything will be allright over at your end.

cik jalak_lenteng bukan nye ridzwan taknak bawak gi vet tp dia dah tanya vet and vet suggest to euthanize @ put to sleep sebab according to the vet the kitten would not survive 3 days of hunger. we all helping ridzwan what we could managed, i suggest you do the same too.

When i reached home yesterday, the 2 remaining kittens were alive.
I tried feeding it again. I assumed it drank because it swallowed more than it spit out. This was at 6.30-7pm.

then went to do it again at 9.30pm. To my horror, they were lying in a pool of vomit. all tht they drank was thrown out within that 2 hours..
But i fed them again. did everything i learnt yesterday..nothing seems to work. it drank a minimal amount. gave them a stomach rub, tried to use cotton wool and stimulate the anus like the mother would when she licks it. carress..etc...everything i was trying to gather from the forumers and from the net ..nothing seems to work.

at midnight, i went to them, they were actually sleeping, thought they had died but saw them breathing. so i fed them again. i thought there was hope. finally. tht was the last time i fed it b4 this morning.

i put my alarm at 4am..thinking i could gv them another round ,but slept through it.. such an idiot..never had this problem when i want to wake up for champions league football

this morning at 9am. they were in such a bad shape. it would have been 4 days with minimal amount of food. am suprised it lasted so long.
i was horrified to see one of it with a bruised face. how could tht happen?? i wasnt rough?!!
it was swollen.. and bloated.. so i freaked cos this is what his brother looked like b4 passing on.

drove to my vet. after inspection, she said tht it has to be put to sleep. i asked if she could at least try to save them. she said, 3-4 days is way too long and they should be dead by now.

so i went to another for a 2nd opinion. this vet was more thorough. she checked everything. more bad news. apparently, the stomach had contracted too badly so it will not receive any food. even if it swallowed, it will not pee or poo. As it will be stuck between the throat and the stomach and it may just choke to death..
and there was no surgery to correct it. (this is what she told me)

so i was like 50-50 as to what to do...and this vet i think noticed tht.. so she made it plain and simple to me..
Either i put it to sleep and let it die fast ...or allow it to die a slow and painful death... not much of a choice if u ask me.
so i made the choice. and i left it there.

well, the only thing good out of this is tht i have gained new knowledge this past 2 days. and im more prepared to face such things. unlike yesterday when i had to run to the pet store 3 times to buy stuff..nippled bottles, syringes, milk etc, scrambling into the net trying to get info....well.. i am more equipped now at least.
also learnt tht there r great ppl in here tht would go to great lengths to call, PM and lend a helping hand. From Ipoh to Kota kemuning...thanks 4 the help..

but i guess it was just too late to do anything. I guess i better stick to snake rescue

i understand what you went through... it is very very frustrating to have kittens died on you, no matter how old they area. esp those that still suckling and abandoned. but when you succeed, you will love the kitten very very much, and want to tell the whole world, "i took care of this kitty when he is young, and see how big he is now!"

I followed this thread from yesterday.. sorry that i didnt get to contribute any little thing.. I didnt know how to nurse a baby kitten like these. Sorry to hear that they cant make it.. but Ridzuan.. U did a great job..

Once Irisbaggins and i had a bad experience like this too..
We finally get to pick up a small kitten (around 1 to 2 months) from the drain..( we were trying to get it for 2 days but the lil fellow was too scare and it hide nowhere. We only heard it meow...)
The Third day we got it back.. he was very weak.. we dun have any pet milk and it too late to go to the vet.We only gave him soften kibble.. he ate it.. so i thought he will be ok..
The next morning.. he died..


What i can do now is try and help more stray..

very very sad to hear about it.
As i said to you, in this line of rescue, never say die. you'll come across more kitten in your life and more need to be help.

whatever it is, you've done your best and the rest is up to the Al Mighty. And this really show how caring you are towards cat eventhough they are DSH strays.

Those who dump the kitten there will surely get their "rewards", in this life or later.
