Having been re-elected as recycled International Liaison Officer for ACF last Monday at our AGM, I am now officially in a position to address this 'slave trade' (mind you, there've been a number of forumers who've referred queries and info to me privately) and would appreciate a) all and any documented evidence of pet trading and b) your help on the ground in your part of the world to try to identify the breeders who are indulging in this.

THis was touched on at the last World Cat Congress so TICA, CFA and FIFe body members, please pull out all stops to try and help!

Breeding pedigree Scottish Fold and British Shorthair

what can we do to help u in facing this upcoming problem..?

Providing details of what's in which shops and where they come from...if possible, getting names of breeders and pedigrees....anything concrete which will help us at this end identify the breeders who are sending bulk kittens.

Some might ask about availability of different breeds... find out when next shipment's due.... anything!

Oh, I do hope so! I started alerting Oz in 1988 and it DID quieten down, but now, of course, it's an even bigger business. ACF is approaching government to do things such as raise the age required to ship overseas (from 12 to 16 wks); pet kittens to be desexed before departure; breeders ONLY to export entire cats/kittens (rather than agents, who cause all the damage, sending out shipments several times a week). But if we have you people there on the ground helping identify sources, it will help enormously.
