Thank you so much all for your messages. i am still so shocked, I couldn not sleep till 2am last night just thinking of the horror my cat had to go through and the disbelief at how the whole issue is treated so casually.

Yes thats the one. They shoved the registration note we signed when we send our pets for boarding, its says 'we are not liable for any loss...we practice due dilligence and have safe cages'. Everyone out there, you need to look at the facilities before you consider kenneling any pets. This one had a large room with walls that do not close with the roof. i suppose for better ventilation. The room is compartmentalised in caged rooms with just a simple bolt to close the door. The only thing separating the kittens in there and the ravaging guard dogs is this little bolt that sildes across the door and it catches. And they said, 'it must have been the kids. None of our staff would make mistake.' No kids should be allowed unsupervised..and its not a petting zoo! No visitors should be allowed just like that! We must let all vets and boarding centers know that we do not tolerate this, check your centers, make sure your pets are safe and the handlers are good handlers. I don't expect much like trained or experienced handlers but at least some one who loves pets and not just 'oops! something happened' attitude. In Miri, I'm glad to hear of another one other than Betty in Krokop. This means that there is more and more demand and we have choices. I hope this also means that quality of services, product choices and general care of pets would increase. |

Perhaps writting to the press is a good idea. Especially, if I'm hearing right, there are so many incidences like this where the vet is the least bothered with the safety of the pets. |

I find this utterly incomprehensible on all counts. What you must be feeling!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so very, very sorry. But it begs the question - aren't there proper cat boarding facilities available? It's a reasonably big business here. I mean separate (and sealed) walk-in runs per cat or family pair or trio (at least 4 cubic metres per cat) - I don't know of any vets who board, and if they did, they wouldn't have the space and facilities. Maybe an idea for forumers?

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and what a terrible way too. I have been to many petshops to look at their boarding facility but i just dont have the heart to leave my babies with them, not even for 1 day! Most of them cage the cats like chicken. It's dirty and smelly. The worst place i have seen is in Pandan area (KL) where they put cats in wire cages. The f/male attendant sprayed water on floor without consideration. I actually saw the poor cats shivering and most got wet.
I hope all forumers can share their experience or tell what they have seen so that it's a warning for everyone. |

i am so sorry for your loss.
your story makes me cringe. we board cats too and i really cannot imagine what to say. however, a similar thinng happened to us many years ago which made us rethink the whole going on holiday thing. abt ten years ago, i left our dog at sri ukay animal clinic for a mange treatment. when i went to pick him up, the said, oh sorry, you dog escaped and we can't find him. those of you who know the clinic know that it is 30, from a highway! we were bereft. the head vet dr siva said, i ahve many dogs and i can give you one. your dog is not a pedigree right? then all the same la.... ![]() we searched high and low....days passed and we lost hope. about three weeks later, we say him!!! he was emaciated and in terrible shape but we found him. we were so happy. i guess, by telling this story, what i am trying to say is please be careful where you board you pets. horrible things can happen.
