i seriously doubt you are referring to Pet Safari, they have not held any show with Int judges only small fun shows...

No...what I meant was that at the shopping mall venue for a show (run by MCC as part of an animal expo) there was a pet shop.... not that a pet shop ran a show!

When I was in Malaysia during raya season last time I do visit lots of pet shops one of them is Pet Safari. They have 3 white persian kittens priced at RM1800 but I don't know whether it has cert or not but to me they don't look like a persian.
Then I went to 2 of the Pet Shops, I can't remember the name in Mid Valley and One Utama. They have a what look like an (8months old) tortie persian priced at RM1800 and a male exotic (maybe nearly 1y old or more) price at RM2400 they not in the best condition ie. thin and fur not in good condition. Looks like they have been kept there or somewhere for a long time without proper nutrition. They claimed that they were Australian imported and have a ped cert. I was just wandering where do they get the kittens from and were they actually registered as breeders are not allowed to sell their kitties to pet shops or middle man and I'm very sure non of the cats association will register such cats. Maybe they just promise to gave the cert but in the end the buyer didn't get anything as happen to one of the forumer's friend's dog.
For the other pet shops its worst. Almost all of them if you went back to the end of the shop they will have cages where they keep their own cats for breeding purposes. In one shop in Gombak they have as many as 10 cats for breeding. They mated the what called persian to a DLH and DSH and will claimed that as exotic if the kitten is short hair and persian if the kitten is long hair. One of their female has just given birth to 6 kittens, I was pretending to be interested in one so thats where I got all the info. They said they have 2 male exotic studs and did show them to me. I just laugh inside as they look exactly like a normal DSH. But to people that doesn't know they will pay RM800 for their kittens. I don't think the adult cats is vaccinated and they look distress as being kept in cages for a long time.
Is there any regulations about breeding in pet shops?? Can anything be done to help these poor cats?? I swear if I have lots of money I will remove all the cats but this won't stop the pet shop owners from breeding. Maybe one shold suggest to the gov to ban selling cats, dogs and monkeys in pet shops like in UK and Ireland. Any idea how to do that??

I have on one occasion seen correct paperwork for a cat sold to a pet shop, except it was registered in the pet shop owner's name, so that's not really the same thing. The other paperwork I've seen is obviously out of order and no registrar would accept it. Usually it's a matter of:

a) Breeder's pedigree only
b) Breeder's ped with prefix removed
c) "Official" ped showing shipper's name as owner (no transfer in sight)
d) As above, with cat's name removed

Because MOST cat bodies in Aust would suspend/expel a breeder for supplying the slave trade, covering their tracks is important to the breeders involved. Many of the cats that end up in S E Asian pet shops wouldn't have been registered in the first place (remember, these breeders are doing it for money) because if there's no trace of the kittens having been bred, they can't be blamed for slave trading so easily, can they?

There are a couple who are more blatant about it but they belong to a group here not recognised by the mainstream cat fancy and it certainly appears that's where you go if you want to bulk ship.

Default CFA cat in China for auction

Only yesterday there was a posting on an Aust list about a US breeder who was horrified to find that a cat she'd sold to China (to registered breeders) was up for auction for double what she'd charged them.

That just horrible. I'm afraid that one day all the breeders in US and UK won't thrust to sell their cats to S E Asian people because of this.
