I think the topic starter is a newbie. So its ok lah, cannot blame her. Dulu I pun macam ni juga, terkejut bila ada adoption fees. Even terkejut bila kucing tu di kembiri kan. Ye lah, first time, tak tahu apa apa pun pasal kucing, tiba-tiba nak kucing.

So to topic starter, it is not good to put blame on that organization, its good enough to have them working to help, although it is not as good as 5 star hotel or like a cat living in a diva world.

There's even many cats for adoption in this forum, its even FREE. why don't you help them. Beautiful cat does not mean bring luck to you, ugly cat does not mean bring the bad luck. Cat will always be cat, you are the one who is going to bring luck to them (samada you jadi tuan yang baik, tuan yang ok ok, atau tuan yang tidak baik.)

Happy adopting

bienda...actually if you want to adopt a mixed breed at paws, u need to pay about RM150 if i am not mistaken...and if the cat is not yet been syaped or neutered and you insist to adopt it, only then u need to pay RM250, i think in this case is because the cat is not yet ready for adoption, not yet been spayed/neutered or not yet properly dewormed/vaccinated, that is why they charged you RM250 to get the cat...it's their procedure that all the cats must be spayed/neutered,dewormed and vaccinated before giving them away....btw if you bring home any cat that is not yet ready for adoption, you need to bring it back to paws to complete the process as scheduled earlier....adoption fees for both short hair and long hair are also different..and adult cats are cheaper than kittens....as elfreakz mentioned. paws and spca are animal shelters that run based on the public generousity and they do not get any fund from the goverment..it is through our donation that helps them to survive...and frankly i think the price is quite ok rm150/250 for one cat that covers the spaying, deworming and vaccinating expenditures....i agree with some of the forummers here...even if you buy a cat from a pet shop..u might get cheated as well....the cat might look beautiful from outside bt once you bring it home, give it a bath then you'll discover the 'other side' of its beauty...hmmm then you will need to spend a lof of money to take care of it...more or less its just the same.

i hope you will find a cat of your dream soon...i am sure many forummers here would be more than happy to help...long hair is beautiful i admit but when it comes to maintenance..short hair is better and easier...bt then again i guess..whether its a short or long hair cat, it does not really matter for a true cat lover...we all aim to give what is the best for our cat to keep it strong and healty regardless of the money issue...

HI THERE
THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE...ACTUALLY ID COME TO PAWS JUST TO LOOK FOR A CAT..RIGHT NOW I'VE ALREADY HAVE 5 PERSIAN CATS IN HOME..SINCE THAT CAT IS NOT IN THE GOOD CONDITION AND INJURED, I'VE FEEL SOOOO SYMPATHY AND HOPE THAT I CAN BRING HIM TO THE BETTER PLACE..I ASK THE VOLUNTEER WHETHER THAT CAT IS READY FOR ADOPTION BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN THERE FOR A QUITE A LONG TIME, AND THEY SAID THAT THAT CATS IS READY TO FIND THE BETTER HOME....THAT'S IS THE REASON WHY I'M SO ANGRY WITH THE MANAGEMENT.....HOW COULD THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE TO THE POOR CAT THAT REALLY NEED EXTRA CARE

then just adopt that cat for rm250. next give extra care from the vet, maybe cost rm300.. total rm550. that rm250 will go to the shelter itself, so while adopting, you help other cats.

if you buy from petshop, you need at least rm800 - 1000. then go to the vet rm300.. total rm1100 - 1300. you paying rm800-1000 for that shop owner.

so you choose, you prefer to give rm250 to the shelter and help other cats, or you willing to pay rm800 - 1000 to make the petshop owner smiling while drinking coffee?

All free (excluding your transportation) I'm serious, Perlis is now in stray cat over-population problem. Most ppl here tot that spaying is not halal... that's why problem occurs.
