yes Jeff.... i entirely agree with u. it does not really matters if my cat does not win (perhaps this is my POV fr a non-breeder). if u win, b modest. if u lose, b a sport. like the MiCATz show, i decided to show my Munchkin, Akechi over his other siblings becoz i knew that r not many ppl knew or even heard of the breed Munchkin. Even the 2 Japanese judges, Nagayama n Shimada had personally came n look for me on the 2nd day of the show to see more closely of my Akechi. cat shows shud b an eye-opener n educational ground. i don't actually forsee that Akechi will get any placing for HHP before the show (knowing CFA did not recognize Munchkin) but seeing many got to know abt Munchkin, Akechi is already BIS in my heart n that certainly had made me sleep soundly at nite

Yes H. At the end of the day, breeder or non breeder, that's the most important thing. Whatever that makes you sleep at night!

Ok, let me tell you something that is not a secret or else I wouldn't know.
During the show, there was this Thai exhibitor selling this grooming powder that can cover the stain. It's in powder form. It was told to be a home made remedy.

Apply to the cat once a day can help removing the stain as well as preventing future stains due to the protein in the cat's tears.

Can't remember the price though. I personally think in cat fancy society, we should share all information pertaining grooming etc. For someone who attended CFA shows for the 2nd time and 1st time for International Shows, I must say the Thais really knows the trick-o-trade of grooming (In this case Persians since they were all around me).

Their cats were VERY well groom! They have the sprays, trimming and what not, I was very impressed

p.s: Note to self, more reason to get an EXO, less less less hassle to groom

Well personall I have to agree that EXO is less grooming in term of coat length... Don't don;t take the Exo fo granted is not so easy as well to groom the exo eyes and face as well as maintain a good undercoat for exo.... So if you take that as less attention on grooming maybe you are wrong.. or maybe i am wrong.. Coz personall i saw some exo owner were quite busy grooming the exo... and there did put in effort into their cats... is not easy i guess...
Anyway is just my opinion....Please don;t take it so hard...

HAHAHAAH!
No lah, I was just referring to the grooming of hair. I once owned an Exo and Persian together, I found that grooming my exo is much much easier than my persian The exo still needs extra care in the eyes, staining, cleaning areas of course, but in term of brushing, exo is much much more less hassle than Persians. The hair will not matte and tangled like Persian even I skipped to brush her for one day, but not my persian.

In terms of bathing, exo is much more less hassle! The coat is easier to dry than Persian as well.

No heart taken la Ken, don't worry... I'm not easily offended. I understand what you mean!

There are breeders who are out to make money and there are breeders who wants to spread the joy of owning a beautiful cat. Abymummy, I only saw you with your cats for a few seconds and I knew that they are very much loved. That really sets you appart from the others. If anyone is looking for an Aby, I would surely recommend you.

You and Coony's dedication to improving the local breeding line is highly commendable. I wish you both many successes in your quest for the best!

Thank you so much lattekatz - my cats are very much loved and they know it and they abuse that position of being much loved daily to my joy and delight!

Russell has a point - to know that your breeding does well in judging rings also brings a certain amount of satisfaction - lets face it, I breed pedigree cats and that simply means that if my breeding is showable, then they will be shown, win or lose. If I do sell a show neuter, then the new owner is oligated to show - and why not? It promotes the cat fancy (irrespective of registry), the breed and it promotes good and responsible pet ownership (not stepping on any toes!). Granted that grooming a SH cat is ever so much easier than LH cats but having said that, if your cats are not well maintained, they will NEVER has a glossy, silky coat, bright eyes and a sparkle in their smile.

Linuxlah also has a point - I never go into the show hall expecting to final ( I never expect to lose either!), my cats getting into the finals is a bonus!

H has an even better point - education. To those not in the cat fancy, any LH cat is a "Persian" and any SH cat is something you can pick up from the side of the road. We KNOW there is a difference!

But to get back to the point of this thread - is bringing your cat up to Champion enough? Some may say "It's not of my breeding, who cares?" To me, that is not the point - as a breeder, it is my duty to bring my foundation cats as far as they can go and my breeding even further.

Most breeders would like to see that the cats they have bred can go far - it would be wrong of me to sell a show quality neuter and not ask the new owner to prove the point.

So the question is now - is getting the title Premier enough? As a breeder, of course the answer is NO! As a cat owner, my answer will still be NO! What the hey, man...you spend RMx,xxx.xx on a cat which the breeder tells you is show quality - you believe the breeder??? As a cynical cat owner, I would want to prove the point...a breeder would hold onto a show cat for only the first few months, but the cat is in MY CARE for the rest of it's life...a cat that has been bred and conditioned for show, IMO, should be shown...

So then, finally, the HHP class - where else would you get the ultimate bragging rights if not at a show? On the Micatz '06 thread, some bright soul gave out points for the HHP class - and according to that, this year's bragging rights goes to the owners of Shadow the tuxedo cat - all I can say is well done, Shadow's owner! You have proven to CFA ID Asia that your cat is the healthiest, happiest domestic cat around...

No, I am not forcing everyone to show their cats. Please, if you don't want to show your cats, don't. Not all cats are meant for the stresses of the Show rings. I'm sure that all the people out there have cats that are much loved, happy and healthy.

The point of this whole thread was that some Championed their cats on the first day and didn't bother to come on the second day to see how far their cat(s) can go...tiredness cannot be an excuse - it was the first time for most of the exhibitors there attending a two day show and anyone who saw me on the second day could see that I was running on less then empty. To me, the ONLY reason for not attending the 2nd day was that your cat was sick and/or stressed out of it's brains...

Enough said??? Sorry to rant!
