hahaha... ur Scottish Fold is exactly like my cat, Wesley. He is very close to me but when he sees other ppl, Watson Nyambek also lose in the 100m dash. Anyway, in order for ur cat to be a bit brave, he/she need to be expose to the outside world more. 1st of all, perhaps u can introduce a fellow or two to get close to him. Depending how well ur cat adapt to this, if lucky perhaps a day or two, ur cat would comfortable with the person. Then u can introduce another one, then 2/3 person at one time. then slowly u wud bring him out from the house, starting at the porch 1st, the maybe a park with less ppl (make sure he is on leash all the time...) n so forth. as i said, this wud require time n patience as well. do not force ur cat or else he would turn very aggressive. make sure u give him a treat if he pass each round of test...

my tusy also very shy... even to my housemate! she only come up to me when i'm alone (never mind other cats) and rub head here and there and also snuggle up with me...

if anyone new come, sometimes she just observe from the stairs and mostly hide under my bed and run when the person try to approach

as for arwen, she's very social cat and will come greeting guests. eowyn will come without struggling if i bring her down, by herself sorry! but funny thing is eowyn seems to be at ease with males esp my bf!

Thanks for your suggestion. I will try it on him see whether he will grow to trust people and less panicky around new place.

Sorry, Harotio I realized I had a mistake after I posted it, I was hoping you won’t see it, he, he, he….

My first attempt to wear a harness on my Scottish Fold, Bruce (actually is Bruce Lee) failed. He either retreat or jump over the harness. Don’t want to be too hard on him on the first day so will try again tomorrow or so.

I also carried him out of his room. He was ok and was quite relax on my lap but as soon as my sister’s hand approached he flee. Second attempt same result. Will try again tomorrow see if he has any improvement.

it is ok. i m quite an observant person actually. anyway, no cats would like to wear a harness for the 1st time. perhaps what u can do is to fasten the harness on Bruce but w/o the leash. let him walk around with the harness till he is comfortable with it. juz make sure the harness is not too tight that might restrict his movement n also not too loose where he can get it out. after half a day, then u can try put the leash n see how he react. juz remember if he do not want to move, do not drag Bruce ya. pity the fellow. again, after fasten the harness, give him a treat n pamper him.... if he juz sit there, lure him with treats n pat him if he come towards u...

Thanks again for your advice, horatio. I made some progress with Bruce. He allowed my brother to pat him. Putting a harness on him even without the lead is still difficult. He is such a shy and timid cat but he is very gentle and sweet.

I never actually think of training my cats to do anything, they are the one who train me when to fill up their feeding and drinking bowl, pat and cuddle them, open the door for them & etc. They always boss me around. My sister however can make our cats sleep on their back very still for few minutes. She can also make her cat play piano or come to her with a click of fingers. I am more of a dog trainer.
